La Marteille is a gorgeous 16th century French Farmhouse situated in its own 3 acre grounds. The large private swimming pool is situated in secluded gardens but you will have a wonderful view over the medieval village of St Privat des Pres. The estate is itself surrounded by fields of sunflowers, corn and the special deep brown cattle grazing in the meadows. The property has a wonderful sunny aspect all day long, but there is shade in the small wood, or the magnificent centuries old oak, and the graceful weeping willow.

This 16th century French Farmhouse has been lovingly renovated to offer a high specification of luxury accommodation. There are hand-painted tiles in the showers, and in the kitchen. Each bedroom has its own discrete style that captures the mood of this wonderful French farmhouse - bare timbers, little nooks and crannies, old wooden doors.

Coast/Beach
Aubeterre is 5 mins drive away. Officially one of the most beautiful villages in France. It has a sandy river beach with children's playgrounds, restaurants and cafes. Also, about 10 mins drive is St Aulaye, with another sandy river beach and a children' large water slide.
The Atlantic coast is a good day trip (about 2 hours drive) with Royan, and the Dune of Pyla at the Bay of Arcachon with the highest sand dunes in Europe.

Golf course (9 holes) about 15 mins drive

How to get there
Airports - Bergerac & Angouleme, are both less than 1 hours drive away. Bordeaux airport is just over 1 hour. All airports with car hire.
Fast TGV train from London to Angouleme - pick up a hire car from Angouleme centre.
Driving - an easy drive from Caen, St Malo, and Le Havre. A longer drive from Calais, but now nearly all motorway (and avoids Paris), and can be easily done in one day.
