The accommodation is built on an open-plan design. Downstairs, the living-room has a sofa-bed and opens onto the terraces, facing south and west, with two sets of large patio-doors. Downstairs, next to the living-room, there are small but well appointed kitchen and bathroom (washing machine, linen provided). The upstairs bedroom has a double-bed. La Petite Maison is independent of the main house, with separate entrance and parking space. Barbecue and garden furniture on the terraces. To the east the view reaches to the Massif des Maures. The terrain is varied, from high terraces to the plain facing the houses, and a deep gorge to the small river. The Figueiret and its small waterfall call for cool bathing, picnics and summer siestas. In a green zone, and semi-wilderness, this peaceful environment is attractive to nature lovers, hikers, writers, artists and lotus-eaters enjoying the Syrah from the Flayosc wine cooperative. The owner may offer French tuition.

Changeover day
Depending on length of stay-weekly may be from Saturday pm to Saturday a.m/noon. Monthly stay by arrangement with owner. Off-season monthly rates negotiable.Winters are mild, and the owner thinks...the best time of year!

Notes on accommodation
The property, 2.3km from the village is situated at the end of a lane (cul-de-sac), not fenced in, but quiet and secluded.
La Petite Maison is independent of the main house. The owner is a widow and recently retired bilingual professor-and may offer French or English tuition. Peace and quietness is one of the attractions of this domain. Hiking from and on the 10 acres. The Figueiret river offers a secluded private area, gorges and semi-wilderness, waterfall.
The 12m x 5m saltwater pool is secluded.
Accessibility
A low ramp can be installed for a wheelchair. Living room, kitchen and bathroom are on the same downstairs level. Sofa bed downstairs.
Outside
Garden furniture on the terraces, BBQ. Shared with owner, salt water Infinity Swimming-pool (12m x 5m), with overflow effect - salt electrolyse system. The pool is located so as to be fairly secluded / isolated and offers privacy.
Coast/Beach
Frejus/St.Raphael -sandy, large beaches- 40km from Flayosc. Presqu'île de St-Tropez (landmark but not advised!). Michelin Map #84 advised. La Croix -Valmer-beaches and restaurants are advised- quieter than St-Tropez- Lac de Sainte-Croix sailing, canoeing, Gorges/Canyon du Verdon 30km. Hiking. Cycling.
Golf
Golf course, the closest is at La Motte approx 20km east of Flayosc. There are many golf courses in the Var and Alpes - Maritimes.
Skiing
Nearest ski resort is La Foux d'Allos. North, about 1.30 to 2 hours from Flayosc. North of Nice, also good skiing resorts, such as Auron. Ditto close to Gap.
Special interest holidays
French tuition by owner (Recently retired bilingual professor) may be offered. -Mrs Turner -born in France but is also British and Canadian, has lived in Africa and north America. Her large library - both in French and English. Visitors may browse through her books, and borrow some.
Travel
Nice Airport 100km, 1 hour (best and nearest). Marseilles, 150kms - also Toulon, Hyères, Cannes. Car hire at all airports.
Walking to the village takes about 20 minutes - Flayosc has local bus services - Les Arcs station is 18kms away and TGV time to Gare de Lyon- Paris takes 4 hours 20'- or now from London St-Pancras (via Lille or Paris)
Distances
Draguignan -10km east- is the oldest and main town in centre VAR. Sous-Prefecture- Museums- Theater- Cinemas- Daily markets- Ecole d' Artillerie- Canjuers- Abbaye du Thoronet 12th century- concerts in local churches- as in Flayosc.

Two supermarkets in Flayosc - two butchers, fishmonger, 4 bakers, cooperative vinicole (its Rosé de Provence Flayosc had a Gold medal from Paris Concours Agricole 2006). Many restaurants in village and around. Crédit Agricole Bank branch in Flayosc. Chemist, 5 doctors, nurses, dentists, physiotherapists,osteopath, 3 hairdressers. Draguignan Hospital only 20 minutes away.Crédit Agricole branch is open 5 days a week.

About the owner
Born in Paris - French and English background. As an adult I lived in West Africa, Canada (British Columbia for 8 years, and sometime in Quebec) but went back to Europe a few times every year, England, France. Educated in France and England. Now settled in Provence. Professor, recently retired - May offer French tuition, History, European Civilization. I have French, British and Canadian citizenships. For some years I was responsible for an Alliance Française.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought these 3 1/2 hectares of land, to Figueiret river to the east, with waterfall, irrigation canals and most of all "away from the madding crowd". We knew this part of Provence well and wanted this to be our summer holiday haven. I had started living again in Paris- had created my own "job" -head of a language department. 30 years later the main house has been improved on, La Petite Maison added on for friends or family and also to let - any time of the year, as has been the case through Owners Direct for the last years. The infinity salt water pool is a real pleasure. "not at all like any other house we have stayed in" France, and we have stayed in many over the years", this by a Englishman and his wife, couple from Clitheroe, Lancashire- John and Judy.
Unique benefits of the property
Semi-wilderness places are few and far between. One hour from Nice airport, is the easiest and closest -100 kms from Draguignan, sous-Préfecture du Var and 15 minutes from Peyre-Aiguille, our place in Flaysoc. Hiking, cycling, visiting other villages, and enjoying the climate here- the sun shines "roughly speaking" 300 days a year. Draguignan offers a theater - I was amazed, some years ago, when a Winnipeg Ballet company "se produisait" à Draguignan - I then lived in B.C. over 8000 kms away. There are concerts in some of the churches in villages around, some classical music festivals in the summer, and more popular "chanteurs", comedians. Over 3000 books may be lent to my guests.
Longer stays, in spring, autumn or winter, are ideal for retired guests.
