Secluded position, nestled in the hillside with extensive views yet only 5 minutes stroll to the ancient village and château of Duras, with supermarket, patisseries, banks, bars, restaurants and weekly market. No need to drive! Ideally situated to benefit from the French countryside, without making you isolated. Two sunny private patios with tables, chairs, loungers, parasols and barbecue. The 10m by 5m south-facing pool has stunning views up to 20km distance and is in the sun all day long. There is also underwater lighting for evening swims. Nearby golf, fishing, riding, tennis, cycling, canoeing and, of course, lots of wine-tasting! Enjoy your food and wine in the village at the bars or restaurants or at one of the many fetes.....and then simply walk back to the house in 5 minutes without worrying about having to drive!

Changeover day
Changeover day is usually Saturday. Guests are asked to leave by 10am and arrive after 4pm to allow sufficient time for cleaning and preparation.

28" TV, SKY satellite freeview. Hi-Fi, UK DVD player and a supply of books, CDs and DVDs for your use.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
All bedding linen and towels are included (including pool towels). Electricity and Gas included. The house is cleaned prior to your arrival. A food and drink welcome pack is also provided.

 

Notes on accommodation
Stairgate, cot and high-chair available on request at no additional charge.
Although the house usually remains cool in the summer due to thick stone walls, fans can be provided for the bedrooms if required.
Please do not smoke in the house.

Coast/Beach
The coast is about 90 minutes drive and well worth a visit to the famous Arcachon Basin and Dune de Pyla.

Travel
Bergerac Airport about 35 km, 30 minutes drive.
Bordeaux Airport about 100km, about 70 minutes drive.
Easy autoroute journey from all channel ports to the south west of France.

Distances
5 minute walk into the village of Duras, with shops, bars, supermarket, 2 banks, wine-tasting, 3 bakers, butcher, tabac, newsagent, 2 chemists, a couple of estate agents....everything you need!
The famous chateau is well worth a visit, as is the Parchment Museum - the only one of its kind in France.

Further details
Around Duras there is a lot to see and do - from wine-tasting to prune production, ballooning to canoeing, and of course...eating. There are many good restaurants in the area ranging from 11 euros for a 5-course lunch (including wine) to more expensive "Gourmet" experiences.
Literally hundreds of vineyards are within an easy drive - including St Emilion and Monbazilac.
