The house is large and traditional yet it has all modern facilities- with a cook's kitchen. There are beamed ceilings wooden and tiled floors, there is a full bathroom and a shower room. There is a large patio and garden with furniture for al fresco dining and sunbathing. There are 5 bikes in the house to help you go exploring the beautiful countryside. It is some 15 mins by car to Ruffec - where you will find large supermarkets and all types of shops and market, the historic villages of Nanteuil and Verteuil are 5 mins away and here you will get bread and other local provisions, the former has a lovely monastery and the latter has a superb Chateaux.

Preferred change over day is Saturday, but flexibility is available particularly out of high season - (July/August).

Patio, barbecue, tables and chairs for 8 people sun loungers. Lawn and borders. Lovely area for all the family. Lovely large garden.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beaches are at La Rochelle and Royan approx 2 hours by car.
Travel
The nearest airports are Limoges (60 mins) and Poitiers about 45 mins away. Low cost airlines to both from the UK and other European countries. Channel ports 5/6 hours away. Airport pick-ups available from both. Ask for further details.
Distances
5 mins to nearest large villages, 15 mins to nearest large town. Many attractions within 1 hour drive ie. Futuroscope, Cognac-brandy houses and tours, Limoges, Angouleme, velo-train. Canoeing, Valley of the Monkeys, Second World War memorial sites and Oradour village (site of world war 2 massacre) - full details of all attractions are kept in a folder in the house.
Further details
Bread and basic provisions from Nanteuil or Verteuil, full shops, market and other shopping at Ruffec, giant stores at Angouleme - about 30 mins. Good restaurants every where-our favourites details are kept in the house, nearest being at Nanteuil (5 mins by car).Useful on- line magazine for the area at (livingpoitoucharentes).
Booking notes
Deposit with booking of 25% and balance 6 weeks before, if booking is within 6 weeks then full payment is due.A security deposit of 150 pounds is required with the balance which will be returned subject to any appropriate deductions for cleaning/damage etc

About the owner
We are Les and Jackie, we live in Spain with our giant schnauzer Alfie. We have 2 daughters,who now live in England, one is completing her education and the other is a teacher. We are early retired as Les has been very ill and you know what they say about life being too short! So we took the step to move to Spain about 6 years ago. We still visit France and the UK a lot and love all 3 countries for different reasons. We also love property, maintenance renovation etc and love sharing our homes with friends relatives and guests.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
The property is just off the RN 1O, so it has ease of access yet it feels like its in the heart of the country side. We really enjoy its peace, tranquillity, beauty and colourful locals. We own the property with our good friends David and Diana who live in the UK. We all 4 fell in love with house on our first visit and we still look forward to our time here. We spend our visits walking, eating, socialising and caring for the house and garden. The local restaurants are superb and the local sights and views -simply stunning. We have never regretted our decision to buy.
Unique benefits of the property
There is room to breathe - not to feel like one of the masses and be close to nature-recharge your batteries and renew your enthusiasm, in a timeless and unspoilt environment. Your days can be spent relaxing but equally it would be a shame not to venture out and see what the locality has to offer we are always discovering more and more. You can just walk down to the river which is a stones throw away and watch the fish and the rushing water or go a little further and visit the goats, the black pigs and /or the mules in local fields, or in the summer wonder to fields of sun flowers or take the river path to the old wash house or water mill. The property is traditional, once the village school house, but it has all the amenities for modern living and so it is comfortable and practical too.
