Notes on accommodation
The house has been equipped to a good standard for use as a home. It is? we believe, much more welcoming & visitor friendly than the average gite.
Mobile phone & internet access are available but sometimes patchy which means taking the mobile into the garden.
Accessibility
The house has level access internally, with only one step up from the garden.
The garden itself has no steep slopes. That said no special modifications have been made to the house.
Outside
The house sits surrounded by the garden & has its own secluded access from the road. The garden is mostly laid to lawn & there is a small orchard of pears & apples. Additionally there are plum, peach & cherry trees scattered in the grounds & outside the living room a walnut tree.
There is a patio with a sink & BBQ.
There is an out door dining table with chairs.
All of this is private.

Further details
St Cyr has only a brilliant restaurant & a friendly cafe/bistro. St Georges St Marr & Barenton (all 4km) all have bakers & minimarts & the last has the "epicerie anglais" selling home made savoury french delicacies & english bacon. Domfront is living medieval history but also has 2 supermarkets & many shops & restaurants. Flers has 3 hypermarkets, lots of shopping & a street market as does St Hilaire De Harquoet (20kms). Mont St Michel is a must see but do go early. Locally there is lots of walking, 2 lakes & several other fishing
facilities & wonderful downland & forests to explore. There are many local cider & calvados producers all making their own particular lines.
The house also has a a wide range of publicity for the county & individual attractions.

Owner profile
About the owner
I am a very francophyle englishman. I have lived, loved & worked in France for much of my life. My life partner is french. France suits me very well. The food & drink, the people, the geography & the way life is lived combine to give me & mine virtually all we need. There are few problems that are not diminished after a cup of coffee & a chin wag.
Year purchased: 2007
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We had had a house in the Orne (also in Normandy) for 16 years but felt but felt the need for a bigger garden & possibly a bit of isolation. We cast my net wide but ended up moving 12 kms into the Manche & got what we wanted but without losing any friends or the sense of belonging to a locale. This part of Normandy is more tranquil than most, with infinitely less traffic than many tourist areas. Yet there is a huge variety of activities: beaches, forests, medieval towns, lakes, the list goes on. The sense of "terroir" is keenly felt here (my neighbour makes AOC cider), locally produced veg, meet & cheese abound much of it direct from the farm or artisan made. We are tucked away but only an hour & a half from Caen-Ouisterham, which is less than 3hours from Portsmouth on the catermeran.
Unique benefits of the property
A true rural idyll. Very few cars venture near us. Lowing cattle & the once a day milk tanker are about as noisy as it gets. The house is well equiped inside & outside the large garden, including an orchard, has many corners for relaxation. 100 metres away is an old railway track reborn as a "chemin vert" letting you easily cycle or walk seemingly for ever & lose yourself in "la nature". On the other hand the village of St Cyr is less than 1km away & boasts a world class auberge & a good value bistro. Domfront, with its 100 year war castle is 14km & can satisfy most desires but if it is too far, then Barenton is only 4kms & that has the "Epicerie Anglais", which has the best of both worlds: cracking English bacon & spectacular French sausages, all home made.
