Situated in the rural hamlet of Valay, yet convenient for shopping and restaurants, your gite awaits. The house is 200 years old but has been sympathetically modernised, retaining its original beams. The sunny terrace surrounding the 12m x 6m pool (protected by a safety fence) is an ideal spot for relaxing, while local attractions include vineyards -taste & buy, markets, old towns and castles, fields of sunflowers and piney woodlands, a steam train and many summer music events. The helpful owner lives next door and can advise sightseeing itineraries, taking in local beauty spots.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. Winter lettings (3 months minimum) available from mid-September to mid-April each year. Please enquire for prices/availability.
Changeover day
Saturday change-overs; arrivals normally from 5.00pm, check-out 10.00am.

| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Bed linen and towels are provided, and are changed weekly. Please bring your own pool towels. The house is cleaned before your arrival, and we ask you to leave it in a reasonable state on departure. A cleaning service may be available by negotiation. |
Notes on accommodation
We ask you to please abide by our No Smoking policy indoors.
The staircase has a handrail and features open treads - care may be needed with young toddlers.
For winter lets gas c/heating is available.

Accessibility
En suite bedroom, sitting/dining room and kitchen all have flat easy access on the ground floor, although the bathrooms are not adapted for wheelchairs. Pool, terrace and gardens on flat area.
Outside
There is a large pool terrace, for your personal use, with loungers and umbrellas; the pool is protected by an approved fence as required by French law (not shown in photo). Adjacent is a barbecue and shaded dining table/chairs. Large lawn with fruit trees and room for badminton. Barn with ping-pong table. Off-road parking in the shared courtyard.
Coast/Beach
Lake Jemoie is 25 minutes drive; sandy shores with lifeguards in high season, restaurants and entertainments set in pretty woodlands.
Canoe hire on R. Isle (6 minutes drive) or on the R. Dronne at Renarmon (40 minutes drive) or Brantome (55 minutes drive). Surfing beaches (sand dunes) near Arcachon about 2.5 hours drive
Golf
18 hole public course at Perigueux (approximately 30 minutes drive). Chateau de Vigiers golf club, 18 holes, accepts visitors, (approximately 1 hours drive).
Travel
Bergerac airport 35 minutes. Bordeaux airport 1 hour 20 minutes. St Malo about 7/8 hrs (almost all m/way or d/carriageway). Caen about 9 hours. Other ferries - please enquire. By rail:- TGV to Libourne or Bordeaux. Local trains serve Mussidan, 15 mins from house. Other main line to Perigueux. A car is essential locally. Hire at Bergerac*, Libourne, Bordeaux*, Perigueux. (*available at Airport).

Local shops, excellent restaurants 5 to 10 mins. Bourdeilles castle / Brantome 'Venice of the Dordogne' 40/50 minutes; Issigeac medieval town and market 55/65 minutes; Les Eyzies and caves 70/85 minutes; Riberac market 25 minutes; Aubeterre 50 minutes.

Booking notes
Late enquiries and bookings by telephone only, please, on our French number after 7th May 2008. A deposit of 25% will secure a booking, and a statement will be issued showing the balance owing and latest payment date - usually 8 weeks before arrival.
If less than 8 weeks, then the full rate is payable at the time of booking. A £200 damage deposit (refundable) is payable with the balance. Full terms and conditions on demand.
