This secluded hillside estate between Uzes and Avignon provides an ideal holiday location for those wishing to explore the rich history and culture of the region, or to relax and enjoy the sunshine, food and scenery. It is in the heart of the Cotes du Rhone wine-growing region with many famous vineyards only a short drive away. There are many sporting activities available locally, including canoeing, horseback riding, golf and river swimming.

Prices shown are per property, per week in Euros.
Prices include linens which are changed weekly.
Rentals of more than two weeks may be discounted depending on availability and time of year.
**There is a supplement for a third or fourth person in the Bake House depending on the time of year.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday with guests requested to arrive after 4pm and to leave before 10am. We would ask the guests to leave the houses in the state they find them or we can arrange cleaning for them at 11 euros per hour.

Accommodation
Check availability Well House (4 Bedrooms, Sleeps 8)
A modern conversion of an old stone house. There is a kitchen/dining room (with dishwasher, microwave and washing machine) with glass doors which face out towards the private terrace with built-in barbeque and lovely views. The sitting room, which has exposed stone walls and an open fireplace, is equipped with TV, video and telephone. Upstairs are four double bedrooms (each with en-suite shower and toilet) all with high ceilings and exposed beams. There are two rooms with double beds and two with twin singles.
The Well House and the Apartment share the lower swimming pool which is 44 x 18 feet with roman steps.

 

Check availability Rose House (3 Bedrooms, Sleeps 6)
The Rose House is a pretty and well proportioned stone house, which was converted and modernised 6 years ago. Upstairs is one large open plan living area with high ceilings and exposed beams. There is a modern kitchen area(with dishwasher, washing machine and microwave), dining area and living area with an open fireplace, TV, telephone and video. There are lovely views from the living and dining area. On the same floor there is a double bedroom (with twin single beds) and an ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet.
Downstairs there are two double bedrooms (one with a double bed and the other with twin singles), a bathroom with bath and a separate toilet.
There is a small terrace around the side of the house, shaded by a large fig tree, which overlooks the valley below.
The Rose House shares the upper swimming pool with the Bake House.

The Bake House is recently converted 'Four au Pain'. It has a magnificent setting at the highest point of the property, above the owners house and the upper swimming pool. It is a charming stone cottage with a double bedroom (with double bed), a bathroom and separate toilet downstairs. There are french doors leading from the bedroom onto the private terrace with barbeque. A spiral staircase leads to the first floor where there is a living/dining room with TV and video and a separate fully fitted kitchen (with washing machine and microwave). There is a balcony with wonderful views over the valley below and over the upper swimming pool. The spiral staircase continues up to the mezzanine level where there is a double bed. The ceiling of the mezzanine is quite low at one end, therefore it is suitable for children, but adults should be aware of the limited headroom.

 

Check availability Apartment (1 Bedroom, Sleeps 2)
This is part of the same building as the Well House but has its own separate entrance. It hsa a sitting room with a double sofa bed, TV and video, and a kitchen area (with cooker, fridge/freezer and washing machine). There is a bedroom with a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with shower and toilet. This would be suitable for a couple or young family.
The Well House and Apartment share the lower swimming pool and are therefore often rented together.

 

Notes on accommodation
Heating (electric radiators in the Well House, Apartment and Bake House and oil-fired central heating in the Rose House) is available and metered, with pament to be made prior to departure.

Outside
There are extensive gardens and terraced areas around Saint Castor for everyone to use. The Well House, Bake House and Rose House also have private terraces. Each accommodation has a barbeque.
There are two swimming pools: The upper pool (34 x 17 feet with a jacuzzi) which is shared but the Bake House and the Rose House.
The lower swimming pool (44 x 18 feet with roman steps) which is shared by the Well House and the Apartment.

Coast/Beach
There are good sandy mediterranean beaches within one and a half hours drive of us.

Golf
There are three good golf courses within an hours drive at Uzes, Nimes and Avignon.

Travel
The nearest airport is Nimes which has Ryanair flights from London, Liverpool and Nottingham. (45 minutes drive from us).
Other airports are Montpellier (75 minutes drive) which has flights by Ryanair, British Airways and Air France, and Marseilles (90 minutes drive)which is serviced by British Airways, Easyjet, AirFrance and others.
Nice is 3 hours drive away.

Distances
The nearest village with shops is 2 miles away (Cavillargues). There is a large town with supermarkets, restaurants etc which is 5 miles away (Bagnols sur Ceze).
Uzes, which has a very special market on Saturday mornings is 10 miles away. Many of the best sights of roman france (Avignon, Orange, Nimes, Arles, Pont du Gard, Uzes) are within an hours drive of us.

Booking notes
On reserving a property we would ask for a 25% deposit on making the reservation, a further 25% some months later and the balance on arrival. Bookings are confirmed by e-mail followed by a letter and a map explaining how to find us.
