The Annecy Old Towne Suite overlooks the river and old Chateau/Prison in the heart of Annecy, just steps from the lake and a short drive from the ski station of the French Alps. In summer the apartment is a haven between walks around the lake and hikes in the mountains, or sailing and kayaking on the lake. Easy links to Grenoble, Chambery, Albertville, and Geneva make Annecy a great base for a summer or winter retreat.
In winter, you are a short hop to some of the Alps best skiing, while staying in one of the most charming town in the region. You're surround by winter sports and can enjoy the bustle of the restaurants, tea rooms, bars, and shopping of Annecy's medieval center.
The city is also home to excellent language schools and long tradition of music and theater.

Changeover day
We are totally flexible about arrival and departure dates. Our minimum charge is for a week, with additional days pro-rata, so you're not locked into a Sat-to-Sat stay.

Bedrooms: The Bedroom features a king-sized bed for sumptuous nights. Enjoy watching the roof tops of old Annecy from your bed.
Bathrooms: There is a full bath with bathtub and shower, toilet, etc. off of the bathroom. There's a separate additional toilet with its own small sink near the kitchen.
Kitchen: The kitchen features a glass-topped four burner stove top, refrigerator, and combination microwave/convection oven. It overlooks the old part of Annecy and is only steps to the market of Annecy.
Utility Room: There is a full-sized washer and a full-sized dryer in the apartment adjacent to the large bathroom.
Living Rooms: The living room has a lit-gigone that converts into two twin beds, side chairs, a secretary, TV, and large built-in storage cabinets. There are parquet floors throughout the apartment, except for a marble floor at the entrance.
Other: The dining area is adjacent to the kitchen and enjoys panoramic windows that can be fully opened in summer, with views to the lake, the mountains, and directly overlooking the river Thiou that flows through the city.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Linens and Towels are included. There is weekly maid service if you stay more than one week, otherwise it is cleaned before and after your visit.

 

Notes on accommodation
The apartment uses wall-based heating during the winter.
The apartment is not suitable for very young children, since there's a balcony overlooking the river and it is not child-proofed.
The apartment is quiet, thanks to its location along the river, and away from the main bridges that accommodate tourists.
The thrice-weekly market is just steps away, and you never lack for things to do in the most charming town in France.

Outside
This is an apartment with a lovely balcony, but it is only a block from the Jardin d'Europe on the banks of Lake Annecy, which is a particularly charming place to walk, read, and watch the boats on the lake.

Skiing
Annecy is convenient to a number of ski resorts. It's less than an hour to Chamonix and Albertville. You are especially close to the ski stations of the Aravis, including the gigantic area of La Clusaz (35 minutes). La Clusaz and its affiliated areas offer all levels of skiing in an atmosphere of a village, without the gigantic apartment blocks you'll find elsewhere. It is very easy to drive up for the day, and then enjoy the restaurants and bars of Annecy at night.

Travel
The TGV high speed train connects Annecy to Paris and Lyon at least five times per day. There's also air service from Paris to Annecy.
Geneva is the most convenient international airport, and is only about 40 mintues from Annecy. There's a van service available from Geneva so a car is not required. It's a very easy transfer.

Distances
Geneva is 40 minutes away by autoroute.
Lyon is about 1 hr 40 minutes.
Paris is about 3h30 by TGV high speed train.
Chambery is about 40 minutes; Aix les Bains is about 20 minutes.
Grenoble is about an hour's drive.

Further details
Annecy's old center (which is not to be confused with Annecy le Vieux, a totally different and modern city), is full of excellent shopping, restaurants, and specialty boutiques and entertainment.
There's a market three days a week with some of the best produce you'll find in an open air market in France.
