The region has many delightful historically interesting villages with regular weekly markets including nearby Limoux and its famous carnival. Activies in this beautiful area include wine tasting, canoeing, rafting, cycling, horse riding, golf and skiing in winter in the Pyrenees.

Notes on accommodation
The villa is on 2 levels with the bedrooms upstairs.
The ground floor is light and airy with open plan lounge/kitchen with shower room, wc and utility room.
Outside
South facing private garden with barbecue, table, chairs and parasol. Swimming pool [shared with owners] 9 x 4 metres with views of the Pyrenees. Fenced with lockable gate and alarm. Sun loungers and umbrellas provided.
Coast/Beach
The Mediterranean coast is within an hour's drive and is easily accessible by Autoroute. Resorts include Narbonne with its wide sandy beaches and is perfect for families and Gruisson with its beach and attractive marina and gardens. Spain is only 1 and a half hours drive, with many beautiful beaches on the way. Carcassonne lake and beaches only 20 minutes.
Golf
18 hole golf course at Carcassonne with spectacular views of the Pyrenees.
Skiing
The ski resorts of Mont D'Olmes with its free nursery slope perfect for children and beginners, Camurac, Ax les Thermes and Mijanes are all within 1 hour to 1 hour 45 minutes.
Special interest holidays
Watercolour painting classes are held every Tuesday at a cost of 10 euros per person, per session and are suitable for all abilities, particularly for beginners. Equipment is available if required. Private sessions 20 euros can be arranged. Please enquire on booking.
Travel
Carcassonne 20 minutes.
Perpignan 1 hour 15 minutes.
Toulouse 1 hour.
Bezier Agde 1 hour 30 minutes.
Distances
The spectacular World Heritage Site of Carcassonne Cite is only 30 minutes drive with its winding cobbled streets and relaxing open air cafes and shops.
The medieval town of Limoux is just 5 minutes drive. Relax in the main colonaded square with its restaurants and cafes or stroll along the banks of the Aude. There is a weekly market on Fridays and a Marche Nocturne held weekly throughout August and September. Music festival in the streets in September includes both classical and rock bands.
Further details
SPECIAL EVENT:- the TOUR DE FRANCE will be staying at and starting from Limoux 18th July 2012. Don't forget BASTILLE day on the 14th July and Limoux has it's firework display over the river Aude on the 13th July.
Hypermarkets are just 4 minutes by car and Limoux is well equipped with shops, restaurants and bars.
Carcassonne Town with attractive shops and restaurants is just 20 minutes. The Canal du Midi runs through the town with restaurants and cafes nearby. The attractive Medieval town of Mirepoix is just 35 minutes and has a regular Monday morning market held in the colonaded square. There are regular wine festivals in the area, please ask for details. Canoeing and rafting along the river Aude is also available nearby.
Booking notes
20% booking deposit and balance 6 weeks prior to arrival. £150 cash breakage deposit required before arrival to be returned up to 10 days after departure provided no loss or damage is incurred. If cleaning after occupation is necessary a cleaning charge of £35 is applicable.
