Our new kelo log cabin is situated in the heart of the beautiful Lappish village and ski resort of Akaslompolo, high above the Arctic Circle. The cabin is in walking distance of all the village amenities (including supermarket and restaurants) and ski bus stop, yet is set within a lovely tranquil wooded setting. Extended ski season from October to May offers guaranteed snow for downhill or cross-country ski-ing, snowboarding, sledging or even a husky dog or reindeer ride or perhaps a visit to see Santa Claus! After a day in the snow relax in front of the cabin's wood fire or in the cabin's own private sauna. The summer months offer 24 hours of daylight enabling you to experience hiking, cycling, fishing, canoeing in the beautiful fells, lakes and rivers. The Northern Lights are visible from October to March with the cabin's terrace providing the perfect viewing platform. Our log cabin offers all home comforts. It is an ideal base for families to explore the beauty of Lapland.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the cabin per week in UK Pounds. Please note these prices apply to bookings of 6 people or less. For bookings of more than 6 people, please email the owners directly for prices. The price includes a final clean of the cabin and firewood. Linen and towels are charged at an additional £20 per person. Discounts are available for long-term Summer lets.

Linen and towels are available to hire at a cost of £20 per person. Bedding is not provided for the travel cot. Alternatively please feel free to bring your own linen and towels. The final clean price is included in the rental price. |

Notes on accommodation
The cabin has excellent insulation and central heating (under floor heating). The cabin is ideal for young children as stair gates are fitted.
Accessibility
Sorry the cabin is not suitable for wheelchair users.
Outside
A door from the lounge leads to the terrace. There is also a deck at the front of the cabin.
Skiing
The skiing opportunities here are endless. The cabin is situated very close to cross-country ski tracks (some flood-lit). In total there are 330kms of cross-country ski tracks in the area. The cabin is in walking distance of the ski bus stop which will take you to the 58 downhill pistes with the longest piste being 3000m. Ski school lessons are available in English. Toboganning is another great activity for children.
Special interest holidays
The Northern Lights. In January 2012 one of the best sightings of the Northern Lights was over Akaslompolo.
Travel
Ski-Flights.Com direct charter flights to Kittila (40 mins) LHR to Kittila via Helsinki (BA/Finnair), or SAS LHR direct to Lulea (new) or Kiruna (via Stockholm) in N.Sweden (approx 2.5 hour drive). Also Finnair to Rovaniemi (approx 2.5 hour drive). Overnight 'Santa Express' train is also available from either Helsinki, Tampere (Ryanair) to Kolari (0.5 hours from cabin). Car hire is not essential but can be useful. Air Baltic offer a service LHR to Kittila or Rovaniemi via Riga.
Distances
All the amenities of the village are within walking distance of the cabin. The ski bus stop is approx 3 mins walk from the cabin and the start of the cross-country ski tracks are approx 10 mins walk from the cabin.

IDEAS FOR A SUMMER STAY AT OUR CABIN:
- Akaslompolo is situated around a large picturesque lake ideal for boating and fishing.
- The Pallas-Yllastunturi National Park surrounds the area. There are extensive nature trails and hikes for all levels from families with young children to serious hikers
- Take the gondola up to the top of the Yllas fell to appreciate the stunning scenery
- Hire a mountain bike to ride down the fell or simply hire a bike to ride on the extensive walking tracks around Akaslompolo
- Blueberries and cloudberries can be picked all around the village and on the nature trails
- Reindeer are visible everywhere in the area during the summer months
- Spend a fun day at the adventure park in Levi open daily from 6th June - 25th September for children 4+ and adults. Whilst you are there you can take the gondola to the top of the Levi fell
- Take a trip to Muonio where you can take a guided tour of the husky dog farm at the Harriniva holiday centre
The village comprises a very large well stocked supermarket (with ATM), several restaurants/bars, ski shop, gift shops and two large hotels. There are also several 'safari' companies offering excursions and activities all year round.
