Choose Lapland with Owners Direct

Finland is a great choice of destination all year round. The winter in the country lasts for almost half of the year, but still offers a dramatic and inspiring landscape to its visitors. Holiday accommodation in Lapland is warm and comfortable, just how you would want it to be. The culture in Lapland is a mixture of everything that surrounds it with influences from Sweden, Russia, Norway and Finland itself, traces of which can be seen in the style of the villas in Lapland.

Watch the Sunrise

Winter can see twilight last for months as the sun never makes it up above the horizon. When spring does arrive the warm rays of the sun glisten on the surface of the snow, and the mornings are filled with birdsong. Visitors can stay warm in their Lapland villas and watch the glorious first sunrise of the spring. There are apartments in Lapland that offer centrally located accommodation for those who choose it.

Seasonal Variations

Once the first sunrise of the year has arrived life starts to emerge from the snow. Willow bushes produce catkins and the snow begins to melt. Though it may still snow there are signs that summer is definitely on its way, and by the time it gets to midsummer you can feel the warmth of the sun. A choice of holiday rentals in Lapland offer visitors the chance to experience this beautiful transition.
Summer is filled with light, so much so that there is no night. The sun stays high in the sky from May through to July, with the end of July offering the warmest temperatures. During this snowless time the beauty of the landscape that lies beneath the snow is allowed to emerge and activities like horse riding, cycling and trekking are popular, as well as fishing and white water rafting. Holiday homes in Lapland offer access to a unique part of the world.
