The island of Hiiumaa and surrounding islets belong to the West-Estonian Archipelago Biosphere Reserve. Hiiumaa (1000sqkm) is situated in the eastern part of the Baltic Sea. Villa Kassari is located in Hiiumaa, in the Käina gulf on the Kassari peninsula in village Taguküla. The villa’s inner design is based on the Laura Ashley-country house style with a handy decor and cozy interior. The materials used are natural and allergy-free. The house has WiFi, Viasat satellite-TV and the opportunity to pay with a bank-card. Pets and smoking indoors are strictly forbidden!

Coast/Beach
The coastal area around Hiiumaa is shallow and full of reefs. There are about 200 small islands and partly exposed reefs around Hiiumaa. The coastline is 325km long and is not indented by many coves or inlets. There are many kilometers of isolated sandy beach. The nearest sandy beach is 1,5 km.
Travel
Mostly people come to Hiiumaa by ferries from Rohuküla (100km from Tallinn) to Heltermaa, tickets can be booked 30 days in advance. The quickest way to reach Hiiumaa is by air. There are regular flights between Tallinn and Kärdla all the year around (Avies). Villa Kassari is located in Kassari, 22km away from Heltermaa Harbour and 27 kilometres away from Kärdla Airport. On location you can rent a car or minivan.
Distances
Nearest town is Käina 6km, there are a good supermarket and ATM. Very good tavern Vetsi Tall is 3km away.
Further details
There are many interesting places in Hiiumaa. Käina bay is a best known bird sanctuary. There are about 250 species of birds on the island, 195 of them nesting. Important migration routes for birds go over Hiiumaa. Nearest bird watching tower is 4km. Onlu 1km away You will find Kassari Ratsamatkad which offers you a great opportunity to enjoy the brilliant nature of little island by horse-back. They will take you to the places where one can not get by a car, or reach by foot! All trials are guided by an experienced guide, and include a picnic-lunch.
Booking notes
Booking-fee is 30% of charge! Payment made at time of reservation : 30% of rental sum, 70% on arriving. Accepted methods of payment: Visa/Electron - MasterCard/EuroCard – Cash. The deposit is 500 euro and will be returned if the house is in a condition as good as on your arrival.
