Full length glass doors open into the open plan ground floor with dining area, living room and fully fitted kitchen. Upstairs accessed via a spiral staircase to 2 luxurious bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Bedroom 1 - super king size that can split into twin beds + baby/toddler. Bedroom 2 - super king size that can split into twin beds. Bathroom - bath with shower enclosure, toilet and sink. Just the most romantic place to stay, whether celebrating an anniversary, Valentine’s, honeymoon, first holiday with a baby or simply a lovely holiday; but also for the individual for that extra luxury and peace. The main picture on this site shows the very special bedroom!!Super king size bed with that ‘Cadbury’s Flake’ open bath! Just imagine soaking with that glass of wine or champagne! With room for travel cote if you have a little precious one. Downstairs you have a cosy, warm room with separated areas for lounge, dining and kitchen; with a cooker, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, along with TV/DVD, Wi-Fi, comfortable settee, coffee table and dining table with three chairs. |

Notes on accommodation
These barns are both child and pet friendly including stair gates at top and bottom of the spiral staircases plus high chairs and cots available on request. The barns have easily controlled central heating and plenty of hot water. There is a selection of books and DVDs and plenty of local information and brochures. Smoking is not permitted.
The owners of the barns live in the farmhouse next door, so are easily available to give help and advice.
All heating, towels and bedlinen provided. Maid service available on request.
Accessibility
Please note that all three barns have wrought iron spiral staircases.
Outside
Secluded garden with sun loungers, tables, companion seats and barbecue plus access to kingsize trampoline for kids and adults alike.
Coast/Beach
Within a 5 mile radius you can access over 10 beaches from secluded coves to long stretches of sand (nearest within 0.5mile)! Guest folder has details. Nearby Maidencombe (16th Century Thatched Tavern); Watcombe Cove; Oddicombe with historic tram and chef pub of the year (Cary Arms); Meadfoot with woodland behind; Ness Beach (via smugglers cove); Torre Abbey (awarded best sand for sand castles in UK); Preston (with beach huts), Paignton (Pier), Goodrington (waterpark) and Broadsands. Wonderful!
Golf
Torquay Golf Club can be seen just 10 metres walk from Pilgrims Rest; a good par 69 course with stunning views over the sea and an excellent bar terrace to watch the sunset. The owner of the barns is a 5 handicap player who can arrange discounted green fees and the odd partner if required! Around Torbay there are a further 5 golf courses, either park land, links, or moorland/heather. All attractive, testing and within 30 minutes drive or less of barns.
Travel
By air - The nearest airports are Exeter (22 miles), Plymouth (38 miles), Bristol (100 miles).
By sea - Cherbourg , Santander and St. Malo reached by sea ferry crossings to and from Plymouth. A transfer by coach, bus, train or taxi will be necessary.
By train - Trains to Newton Abbott or Torquay from all over the country with a short taxi ride.
By car - Torquay is 100 miles from Bristol, 184 miles from Birmingham and 217 miles from London.

Distances
Local shops within 100yds: off-licence, Tesco, Coop, post office, cash points, bakers, fish and chips, Chinese, and pharmacy. Numerous shops, restaurants, attractions within 0-10 minutes by car. Exeter is 20 minutes drive. Totnes and Dartmoor are within 30 minutes. There is a good local bus service (50yds to nearest stop). Two train stations within 10 minute drive.
Further details
If travelling with children, one doesn't want to travel too far to entertain them! Two local beaches are within a few minutes; cinema, ten pin bowling, under ground caves, coastal zoo, in door play zones, golf, squash, tennis, in door wave pool are within 10 minutes; and if you go up to 30 minutes you find water park, adventure parks, another zoo and Dartmoor. Whether sun, rain or shine, something to entertain, never mind your relaxing base!
Thinking about the parents, or adults travelling without children, the surrounding area is also literally packed with shops, restaurants, sports activities, countryside, historic houses and beautiful gardens all within a 20 minutes drive. English, French, Greek, Italian, Chinese, Indian and Nepalese Restaurants within minutes of the property; similarly Golf, Gyms, Sailing, Boating, Saunas. On top there are theatres and a museum, also within Torquay.
With such a choice, we can provide local knowledge to help you choose the right place to eat or visit, saving you time, money and frustration - as a family we hate finding that great place right at the end of a holiday, so we will try not to let that happen for you! We have even negotiated some discount rates for our guests at various places!
Booking notes
Threshing Barn has discounts for partial occupancy out of high seasons to attract parties of 2-6; 4 bed priced at near to 3 or 2 bed rates! Honeysuckle caters for couples at discounts in similar times. The changeover times are 4pm on arrival and 10am on departure. To make a secure booking, a 25% deposit is necessary. The remaining balance is then due 6 weeks before arrival.
