Dartmouth House was totally remodelled in 2007, a total rebuild with all new windows, fittings and furniture. This is the smartest holiday home in Dartmouth with 2 brand new bathrooms and a new kitchen. Arranged over 3 floors this townhouse offers a master double bedroom, a twin room with en-suite and a bunk room and a family bathroom on the top floor; the middle floor offers another twin bedroom next to the huge lounge which has 2 big new sofas (one a sofa bed) and then the ground floor is one huge kitchen / diner with patio doors out on the deck, the crowning feature of the house, it's huge and makes you feel as though you're floating on top of the world as you sit and look around at all the action in the harbour. All fixtures and fittings are new, beds, linen, appliances etc. All floors are stripped pine, new windows, new boiler, megaflow, radiators - everything. Apart from the occassional toot from a passing boat the house is quiet, Above Town is a narrow quiet lane.

Cleaner prepares house on changeover day, experienced local lady, removes linen and fits clean set, cleans entire house and prepares; available on call in case of emergency. Son was one of the builders who refurbished the house. Full set of tradesmen. |
Notes on accommodation
Great house for kids, we have have three young kids who love the house, it's self contained and safe, has an enclosed garden and the deck is perfect for singing shows and acting to the harbour ! Great mobile phone reception.
Accessibility
Not suitable for wheelchairs or infirm as house is on 3 floors and steps are common.
Outside
Kitchen patio doors open out onto a stunning wooden deck which is over 50sqm - 'hanging' over the water - top of the world feel. Below the huge deck area are 2 small lawns also over looking the water. Deck has large table and 8 aluminium chairs - all new. Parking - there are spaces 30 yards up the street, alternatively we supply a free permit giving you free parking in several car parks in the area including the main Dartmouth Mayors Avenue car park, 7 minute walk away.
Coast/Beach
House is 3 mins walk from the estuary front and 10 min walk to Sugary Cove, a small bay jsut past the Castle. We tend to drive the 10 mins to Blackpool Sands beach, blue flag, very clean, sandpits, organic cafe, secure parking etc. Many other great beaches within a short drive.
Golf
Dartmouth Golf and Country Club is 2 miles up the road, offers pay and play golf on 27 holes.
Special interest holidays
Water sports, sailing, fishing, beach holidays - perfect.
Travel
We use the train from Totnes out to Exeter, Reading and Paddington.
Distances
3 mins walk from Dartmouth town centre.
Further details
Dartmouth town centre has lots of great shops - M&S food, Somerfield, Fat Face, Joules, Weird Fish etc.
Restaurants - the infamous John Burton-Race and his New Angel, Mitch Tonks and his Fishworks, excellent curry house, Chinese takeaway, Thai restaurant and a smattering of great pubs.
Also the recently converted St Barnabus Church is now the Dartmouth Apprentice bar/trattoria.
We are used by people visiting the Picnic Boat, Manna from Devon, Riverford Organic Farm, Anne Hathaway's Greenaway Estate, Coleton Fishacre and many more interesting spots.
