Sawdon is situated two miles uphill off the main road, with the coast just visible in the distance. Its peaceful location is perfect for relaxing and unwinding. The cottages are both stone built, dating from the early 19th century, but sensitively restored and very comfortable. Perfect walking country with beautiful scenery whatever time of year you visit. Wake up to the sound of silence, watch the summer swallows dipping and swooping. There is nowhere better!

Owner profile

About the owner
We are Alex Warricker and Mark Wilson, chef/proprietors of The Anvil Inn, Sawdon. We have three children (well, one's an adult now), a cat called Roxie and a spaniel called Jarvis. We have lived here since 2005. Mark is a Scarborian (via Leeds) and Alex comes from London, having come up here in 1996. We have redesigned and recreated the cottages ourselves, we love design and interiors in general. Secretly, we would like to live in the Old Nail Shed! We are both people people, otherwise we wouldn't be running a pub. We love being able to recommend places to go, being on site we are available to help with any problem or come up with some suggestions. If you are lucky, you will meet Syd and Sandra, Mark's parents who come up on a Monday if they are not globe-trotting.

Year purchased: 2005
