"Absolutely fabulous cottage, such beautiful surroundings and a master bedroom fit for a queen".
"Fab cottage, it's much more than we expected. The design and finish in every room is sublime and that matched the surroundings. We took an early evening walk through the woods and saw a fallow deer. Made my day!"
"Beautiful cottage! If it were mine I wouldn't want to share it!"

About the owner
We are a family of 5 living in Northumberland. We moved back to the UK from Switzerland in 2007. We have been married since 2001 and our children are 6 year old Amelie, Louie who is 4 and 2 year old Anna.
Year purchased: 2007
Why the owner chose a home in this location
I grew up in Northumberland and always knew that I would move back here one day. Having travelled a lot I have never found anywhere that matches the raw beauty of the Northumbrian countryside. We live in total seclusion but within easy reach of some fantastic villages, towns and cities such as Newcastle and Durham. I run on the local roads and we cycle as a family without any interruptions from traffic. We are also only 45 minutes drive from the coast.
Unique benefits of the property
Total peace and quiet. Extensive wild life. It's not unusual to see a hare nibbling the grass outside while we eat breakfast. The gardens are enclosed by a dry stone wall so the children can run free without fear of road danger. The woodland is magical with a rustic swing and climbing trees and the rope swing in the main garden is fantastic. There a number of walks from the door and endless opportunities for ramblers and cyclists all around us. We are close to the Slaley Hall golf club and Derwent Reservoir for sailing.
