Notes on accommodation
Please note we do not accept bookings from single-sex groups. The accommodation is in a quiet area and ideally suited to families and couples. For full information please visit our website below. Also, sorry, no pets! Small caged animals wouldn't be a problem but dogs are a definite no-no as the open nature of the surroundings could not guarantee their safety, not to mention the potential nuisance to neighbours.

Accessibility
There is access to both front and rear. To the front is a footpath and at the rear there is a tarmac access drive leading to a single covered, private parking area. There is however a narrow gate and a small step to negotiate from there to the back door so is not ideal for wheelchairs.
Outside
At the front is a small peaceful garden with raised bed and stone-chip patio area. Seating is a small two-seater companion set, but more garden chairs can be found in the under-stair broom cupboard. The front gardens also serve as a footpath for access to the front doors of the other cottages on the terrace, so don't be surprised if meet the occasional passer-by; a great way to make friends and keep up with the latest gossip though! To the rear of the cottage is a small enclosed suntrap courtyard with patio set. Beyond this there is vehicular access to a private covered parking area for one car with further on-street parking a few steps away at the Liddymore end of the lane. This then leads to a further patio/garden area with BBQ, table and chairs, to take full advantage of those warm summer days.
Coast/Beach
The esplanade and marina are just 5 minutes walk away, accessed via a tarmac footpath and crossing the West Somerset Railway line over a pedestrian level crossing at the end of the platform. There is a shingle foreshore alongside the harbour with a small area of sandy beach and a paddling pool. Bigger sandy beaches lie close by on each side of Watchet or at nearby Minehead.
Golf
7 miles. Minehead and West Somerset Golf Course is one of the oldest clubs in the South West, founded in 1882, Minehead is justly proud of its traditional links course. At 6153 yards, the 71 par represents a good test for the scratch golfer as well as the novice. A well-stocked Professional Shop makes an ideal shopping experience. The course is within easy walking distance of the Town, and yet is set in magnificent countryside with views of the hills and across the sea to Wales. Course open to visitors. Membership available. Tel: 01643 702057.
Skiing
Another winter like 2010/11 and ski resorts on Exmoor may become a distinct possibility!
Special interest holidays
Exmoor or the Quantocks, or just the beautiful valley that lies between makes this a gorgeous location for walking, hiking and horse riding. Equestrian centres abound to cater for pony trekking or the more experienced riders who can enjoy the freedom of the local moors and trails. Sea Fishing trips leave daily from Watchet Harbour providing everything you need whilst on board including bait, or you can fish from the stone pier where you may catch a record breaking 36lb cod as I'm told one lucky lad did a few years ago on only his second time down to the water! For anglers preferring fresh water there are the numerous stretches of streams running down from the hills (please check for permissions) or an all-comers day ticket still water a few miles away at Nether Stowey.
Travel
From the north Watchet lies about 35 minutes' drive from Bridgewater (M5) along the A39 to Minehead. Car is not essential as there are very frequent bus sevices to all of the surrounding towns and attractions, as well as the West Somerset Steam Railway that runs regular schedules from nearby Taunton (Bishops Lydeard). A bus service connects Taunton main line rail station to Bishops Lydeard for rail passengers.
Airports are approximately 1.5 hours drive away at either Bristol or Exeter.
Distances
Bridgewater 20 miles. Taunton 30 miles. Minehead 7 miles. Exmoor 10 miles. Quantock Hills 5 miles. Dunster Castle and medieval village 5 miles.

About the owner
Hi, we are Caroline and Robin and are very excited right now at the prospect of offering our lovely home in Nottinghamshire to discerning holidaymakers from home or abroad.
We have decided to tear ourselves away from our old occupations as library assistant / IT Services Provider respectively, and settle into a smaller space for our retirement now our youngest daughter has flown the nest and settled into university life.
Both of us are looking forward to a peaceful but fun retirement, so right now we can welcome the opportunty to allow other people to come and immerse themselves in the rich history and breathtaking scenery all around the little market town of Sutton-in-Ashfield that we have enjoyed for so long.
Year purchased: 2010
Why the owner chose a home in this location
In Watchet itself you can meander through the winding streets browsing the antiques and curios; visit the Market House Museum or the Watchet Boat Museum. You may also like to walk along a path on the track bed of the old West Somerset Mineral Railway, from Watchet harbour to the beautiful village at Washford. Here you can visit Cleeve Abbey, a medieval monastery, or the Torre Cider Farm. If you are interested in churches you may like to visit Saint Decumen’s Church in Watchet; so named after a Celtic saint came to Watchet on a raft with a cow for companion during the 7th century. Alternatively visit Daws Castle about half a mile from Watchet, or take a walk along the West Somerset Coast Path. There's too much to list here.
Unique benefits of the property
At the end of July Watchet holds a town carnival marked by colourful floats and costumes. It attracts residents and holiday makers from a wide surrounding area. In August Watchet hosts a music festival. This is a family friendly festival with views of the west Somerset coastline and beyond, on site camping, 2 stages, tea tent, a food court, workshops, real ale and cider bar, kids corner, on site camping and car parking plus over 30 live acts.
If you prefer to travel slightly further afield why not visit Dunster - 6 miles West of Watchet. Dunster has it all - an historic castle overlooking the town, a working water mill, a picturesque packhorse bridge and ford, elegant 15th century parish church, unique octangular Yarn Market and a long main street lined with 17th century buildings.
