Lantau Cottage is steeped in a rich history with many original features including panelled walls, beamed and gabled ceilings, oreil windows and a winding staircase that incorporates an original full size ship's mast. Osborne House is also full of character having once been a famous restaurant and also a sweet shop. Both properties benefit from quality furniture and soft furnishings and guests will appreciate the attention to detail. Both are very well equipped and yet provide discerning guests a flavour of days long gone. Both houses are ideally situated just a few paces from East Looe’s sandy beach, historic fishing port and many cafes, bars and restaurants. Lantau and Osborne each have a parking space by the beach. Additional parking can be found at the nearby Millpool car park. Normally let from Saturday to Saturday, short breaks are available by arrangement. Both are no-smoking properties and we regret that pets are not permitted. The use of towels is included in the weekly tariff.

Changeover day
The changeover day is normally Saturday although where possible we like to be flexible. Let us know your preferred dates and we'll see what we can do. Out of high season we are happy to accomodate short breaks and long weekends.

Each bedroom (3 doubles, 1 twin and 1 single) is rich in character with all rooms having their own special identity. Every room is immaculately presented with quality furniture and furnishings. The family bathroom is located on the first floor and benefits from a quality walk-in power shower, heated towel rail, wash basin and WC. The 2nd floor en-suite bathroom has a walk-in power shower with antique gold-effect fittings, basin and WC. The well equipped kitchen has a fridge, dishwasher, hob, oven, grill, microwave, toaster and kettle. There is also a washing machine, drying rack, iron and ironing board. The open plan lounge and dining area with large dining room table and chairs for 10 people and comfortable chairs and sofas. The lounge has a TV with integrated DVD, Freeview, CD player as well as a selection of books, games and CDs. Wireless internet access too.

Osborne House can sleep up to twelve and boasts a massive kitchen/dining area that is superbly equipped with a large cooking range, American style fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster and kettle. The dining area has exposed beams (one of which is reputed to come from the defeated Spanish Armada), slate flag floor with a large farmhouse pine table with oak pews and chairs, to comfortably sit 12, a beautifully carved wooden dresser, designer vertical radiator and Laura Ashley textiles. There is a spacious lounge area with four leather sofas and a game of table football. The lounge also has a large TV, DVD and CD player and there is a selection of books, games and DVDs that are available for your enjoyment. Wireless internet access too.

 

Notes on accommodation
Both properties benefit from central heating and are ideal for families. Both properties are furnished to a very high quality and each benefits from very high quality Egyptian cotton bed linen and thick cotton towels.

Accessibility
Lantau Cottage has a steep and winding staircase as well as a couple of steps on the ground floor that make it unsuitable for wheelchair users or older or less mobile people. Similarly Osborne House also has two flights of stairs and neither property has a toilet on the ground floor.

Outside
The houses do not have gardens or outside space but they are yards for the beach. As our many guests usually say "who needs a garden when you're so close to the beach".

Coast/Beach
Osborne House and Lantau Cottage are ideally situated just a few paces from East Looe’s sandy beach and historic fishing port. The beach is normally swept daily making it a clean and safe environment for children (the harbour is ideal for crabbing!). There are a number of walks within easy reach of the house including a spectacular walk to Talland Bay and Polperro. Why not walk there and get the boat back. There are many boat and fishing trips available from the quayside - subject to tide times.

Travel
By car, Looe is approximately 30 minutes from Plymouth, 1 ¼ hours from Exeter and 2.5 hours from Bristol. For those without a car we recommend coming to Looe by train - travel along the Looe Valley line which is one of the UK's most scenic railways. Both Osborne House and Lantau Cottage are a 7-10 minute wall from the Looe railway station (2 minutes via taxi).

Distances
The town of Looe lies only about 20 miles into South East Cornwall and is readily accessible via the Tamar Bridge and the A38. A branch line and railway station connects the town with the Penzance to Paddington line at Liskeard. The single track follows the valley of the East Looe River, passing four tiny intermediate stations before terminating beside the pretty tidal estuary.

Further details
This coastal location is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is a perfect retreat - ideally situated yards from the sandy beach, historic harbour, cafes and restaurants. Our luxury characterful properties steeped in history and providing discerning guests a flavour of days long gone.

Booking notes
Let us know when you would like to come (assuming its available) and we will send you a booking form which we ask you to complete and return with a booking deposit. Eight weeks before you arrival date the balance becomes due. We accepts cash, cheques and bank transfer but not credit cards. Please contact us if you have any other questions.
