If you are looking for a seaside apartment to rent in Devon this property is set above one of the most beautiful beaches in England. It enjoys spectacular views over Woolacombe Bay and out toward Lundy Island. Watch the setting of the sun over the ocean from your private balcony, which leads from the sitting room. This beautiful apartment is in a very quiet location within National Trust countryside. Parking for one car is situated 15 metres from the front door, in a designated area and there is also private parking available, at the top of the drive, for a second car. You will have your own key to the swimming pool which is also 15 metres from the front door - pop over for a quick swim before breakfast! This apartment is very comfortable and well set out with all its windows looking out towards the Blue-flag Putsborough beach and 3 miles wide stretch of coastline. We constantly upgraded to provide a delightful family holiday location or a quiet haven in a wonderful setting.

Changeover day
The changeover day is Saturday for full week rentals. Arrival is after 3pm. Departure is before 10am. Off season midweek and weekend breaks are also available, prices on request.

Kitchen: Fully equipped kitchen with new built-in oven and hob with extractor fan, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer. Large picture window above sink, with view towards Woolacombe and surrounding Devon countryside.
Utility Room: Large butler sink and automatic washing machine. Space to dry wetsuits. Tumble drier in shared utility room near apartment - coin opperated.
Living Rooms: Large, bright living room with patio doors to private balcony. All windows have sea views. New flat-screen television and DVD player. Large sofa and two easy chairs. Dining area with pine suite, six chairs and Welsh dresser filled with books and toys.
Other: The internal hallway contains our pay-phone, hooks for coats, full length mirror and space for outdoor shoes.

linen/maid service:
Fresh cotton bed linen, hand towels and tea-towels are included in the rental price. Please bring bath towels and beach towels. Property is expertly cleaned on changeover day, which is usually Saturday.

Notes on accommodation
This property is suitable for children of all ages and there are a selection of children's toys and games in the bottom of the Welsh Dresser. There are also sets of Scrabble, Monopoly and Articulate, plus several puzzles in the bottom drawer in the main bedroom. Pets are not permitted due to management rules. We have a non smoking policy in the flat.

Accessibility
There are four steps down from the car park to our apartment. There are three quite tight turns in the hallway probably making it difficult for a wheelchair. Windows overlooking the beach can be locked if small children are liable to climb up. The apartment is set high above the beach, on the third floor facing the sea, however, as it is set into the hillside you enter at ground level.

Outside
The communal heated indoor pool and second baby pool are included with the rental and you will have a separate key(kept in the apartment). The pool building is just a few yards from the apartment. The area around the building is planted with flowers and shrubs all the year round. The private balcony is accessed from the sitting room patio doors and is for your sole use. Sit on a deckchair, drink in hand and watch the sun set on the horizon, stunning!

Coast/Beach
The property overlooks the beach and it is a 5 minute walk down to the grassy beach car park. From there the beach is accessible via a sloping path or a flight of steps. The beach is ideal for children with its clean sand, rocks, pools and very gentle incline towards the sea. In summer dogs are restricted from the main area of the beach. There is a beach cafe selling hot and cold drinks, chips, sandwiches and ice creams etc. The beach is well known for surfing and swimming.

Golf
There are several golf courses within a short drive from the apartment:- Woolacombe; an 18 hole golf course. There are also golf courses at Willingcott Valley, Mortehoe and Saunton. Saunton Sands Golf Course is 3.7 miles away.

Special interest holidays
Surfing is taught at Putsborough, Croyde and Woolacombe. Equipment for water sports is available for rent at Putsborough Beach Shop in summer. All sports shops in the area sell equipment and give advice to beginners. Horse riding is available at Croyde and Woolacombe. Bikes can be hired from several places in Braunton and Barnstaple and there are many cycle tracks to explore around the area. Hang gliding and other sports are also available. Surrounding areas are wonderful for walks and many start from our own door straight on to the hillside.

Travel
The use of a car is strongly recommended. Barnstaple is approximately 30 minutes from the flat, through Braunton and Croyde. If travelling by train the nearest main line station is Barnstaple-9miles. The nearest airport is Exeter-62miles. Motor way-42miles.

Distances
One mile to nearest shops at either Georgham or Croyde. Award winning beaches at Croyde, Saunton or Woolacombe - a short drive away. The nearest pub/restaurant -The Red Barn-3miles.

Further details
Good restaurants/bistros at Croyde (Ebbrington Arms) and Braunton (Corner Bistro) and Woolacombe (Red Barn). Other places of interest include Croyde, Ilfracombe, Clovelly, Appledore, Instow, Combe Martin, Hartland Point and Lundy Island. There are also several National Trust properties in the vicinity and places of interest for children.

Booking notes
The price given includes booking fee, electricity, linen and use of pool. There are no extras. £100 deposit required to secure your booking. The balance is due 6 weeks before holiday commences. Payment can be paid by cheque or direct bank transfer. We will require your address so that we can send you confirmation of your booking and how to obtain the key, etc.

Owner profile


About the owner
The Osborne family spent many holidays in this property when it was the Putsborough Sands Hotel. During the conversion to the present day apartments we were able to choose a prime position with all six windows directly overlooking the beach. It is still very much a family apartment and although we let it out to holiday makers we use it ourselves and constantly upgrade equipment and furnishings.

Year purchased: 1980's

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
The building is surrounded by National Trust land and is still completely unspoilt, although the beach can be busy in high summer.
