Owner profile
About the owner
I live in Devon with my husband and two children. My husband and I run a successful piano tuning and sales company. I am a keen naturalist, enjoying the delights of Dartmoor and the countryside around it. My interests include walking, cycling, dancing, and travelling, our family are active members of the Devon Wildlife Trust.
Year purchased: 1994
Why the owner chose a home in this location
I grew up in the pretty village of Combinteignhead and have many happy memories of building camps, climbing trees and playing for hours by the rivers edge at Coombe Cellars. When I acquired Pear Tree Cottage I was an impoverished student and had little money to convert it so I only lived upstairs, the roof was tin sheets, there were two large pear trees towering over the barn (hence the name). In 1997 after marrying my husband we decided to convert the barn properly with holiday letting in mind. Combeinteignhead is in a rural setting close to the teign estuary yet only 10 mins drive to the seaside towns of Teignmouth and Torquay, 25 mins and you can be in the wilds of Dartmoor or in the cathedral city of Exeter.
