Notes on accommodation
This is a fantastic, special house ideal for group get-togethers and families, with everything you need to enjoy a fantastic holiday. There is parking for up to 6 cars, both at the front and back of the house. See our main website. History of the house: The house was originally built in 1820 as the 'poorhouse' for unmarried mothers in Truro. In 1870 it was divided into two halves and the wings were built and the building 'grandified'. Although the house is 'attached', you would never know it. It offers complete privacy and screening from it's other half. The house is unique in that one half of it faces the countryside to St. Clement's, 'an area of outstanding beauty', but the house is still on the edge of Truro. Overall, the house has a private, countryhouse feel and once in its grounds, you could be in the middle of the country but it offers all the convenience of the beautiful, charming city of Truro and the quaint river village of St. Clement's, both within a mile.
Accessibility
The house is probably not suitable for wheelchair access due to the kitchen being a couple of steps down from the rest of the house. The walk to Truro is down hill and takes 15 minutes. Please note there is a steep hill back up to the house and a two minute cab ride home for £3.60 might be more suitable for elderly clients or after an evening out in Truro.
Outside
The house is set within grounds of approx 1 acre. The garden is mature and the entrance is flagged by 2 grandiose palm trees. The garden is a mecca for adults and children alike with a great 32 x 15ft heated swimming pool set within a sun trap patio area and plenty of sun loungers and deck chairs. There is also a large wooden table to seat 10 by the 'real' barbecue area where people can cook and watch the swimming pool at the same time. The garden has a fantastic tree house, zip wire, climbing frame and trampoline for children. The heated swimming pool is gorgeous and has an outdoor toilet and small changing area. There is also a sheltered Victorian courtyard outside the kitchen door which can enclose very young children and seal them away from the pool. There is a small, secret, hidden Victorian garden in one corner of the garden full of bamboo and other Victorian plants. Surprisingly the swimming pool is a godsend on rainy days for children - as they love to swim in the rain!

Would recommend as an ideal family house, very spacious, excellent accommodation and swimming pool etc. we had a wonderful week 6 adults and 4 children. Full marks! Rating 5 out of 5, Bob, June 2010
The house is stunning, with some wonderful features such as the master bedroom ensuite and kids bathroom. All the bedrooms were a great size. Very comfortable house with all mod cons but a lovely family feel. We love Truro and being so close to the city was very handy. St Clements is extremely picturesque and the views from the house are lovely too. So many beautiful beaches are within easy driving distance. Sad to leave. Rating 5 out of 5, Sarah & Richard, Jan 2010.
The House is large and suits a large family or friends, or even dare I say relations. The swimming pool is safe and heated , the lawns are ideal for games and the property beautifully situated near to Truro. Fantastic gas Aga for the cooks amongst you . We all had a great time. Owner profile
About the owner
Hi, we are a family of four. Oliver is a teenager and our son Ben is nearly 13. We moved to beautiful Cornwall 10 years ago and never get bored of our cliff and beach walks. We do however go abroad in the summer with our extended family. We started off renting our house out to friends and have developed it into a small business where we offer our lovely house to other families wishing to explore this amazing county. It is important to us that our guests enjoy themselves and our house and believe our house reflects the warm ethos of its hosts. Should you choose to book our beautiful house, we look forward to meeting you. Kind regards, Judy Boylan.
