Croxford Cottage faces South across Wensleydale with all principal rooms having a sunny aspect. Preston under Scar is a delightful village with many visitor-friendly activities centred on the village hall. It has an Anglican Church and a children's playground. Freshly picked fruit and vegetables (in season) can be bought locally, also new-laid free range eggs. There are details of several walks direct from the cottage, maps are provided.

Both bedrooms have windowseats looking across Wensleydale to Penhill.
Bathrooms: En-suite bathroom to bedroom 1 with over-bath shower.
Downstairs cloakroom with wc and handbasin.
Kitchen: Kitchen with electric cooker, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, hand mixer. There is a breakfast bar with stools plus a dining table seating 4.
Living Rooms: Lounge with multi-fuel stove. TV plus DVD and video players (and a selection of films). Stereo system with CD player.
Other: There is an additional small room downstairs which was the former dairy which can be used as an occasional single bedroom, but not suitable for those with limited mobility.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Towels and linen included. Cleaning and linen change weekly.

 

Notes on accommodation
Coal and logs are provided for the stove. The cottage has an electric boiler which provides central heating by radiators. All electricity costs are included.
One well behaved pet welcome.
No smoking inside the cottage please.

On street parking immediately outside the cottage. There is a small south facing front garden, with a stone seat (a 'bink'), an ideal spot for coffee on a sunny morning.

Coast/Beach
The East coast (Scarborough, Whitby within 75 miles) is about a 2 hour drive.

Travel
Teesside (29 miles), 70 milesis the nearest airport (about an hour). Newcastle, Leeds-Bradford and Manchester are within 90 mins.

Distances
The market town of Leyburn is 3 miles away. Bolton Castle and Middleham Castle are within 4 miles. Waterfalls at Aysgarth, West Burton and Hardraw are nearby. Richmond (8 miles) and Hawes (15 miles) are worth visiting. There is a bus service through the village to Leyburn and Hawes, allowing for linear walks. Durham, York and Harrogate are within 50 miles.

Further details
Leyburn (3 miles) is a good shopping centre including banks, supermarkets etc. It also has a tourist information office. There are many pubs and restaurants in Leyburn as well as other nearby villages. Other local attractions include: The Forbidden Corner. The Wensleydale Railway (occasional steam trains). The racing stables at Middleham. Aysgarth, West Burton and Hardraw waterfalls. Castles at Castle Bolton, Middleham, Richmond. Jervaulx Abbey
