Carin is a charming Grade II listed fisherman's cottage which dates back to 1750. It is situated just a short walk from Appledore Quay and historic Richmond dry dock. Appledore is a picturesque village which is full of character, with quaint streets and passageways and fishermen's cottages painted many different colours. Over recent years, artists and crafts enthusiasts have been attracted to the art, music and literary festivals each year. Craft shops, art galleries and specialist shops can be found tucked away in unexpected places. Combine this with the ''seaside'' atmosphere, excellent beaches, surfing, cycling, walking, golfing and gardens and opportunities to explore the glories of north Devon and you have a perfect place to stay. Oh yes, and the cottage itself? It's light and airy and comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen, pretty courtyard garden, lots of hot water, comfortable beds and very good central heating.

Further details
Appledore has a variety of interesting shops tucked away in and around its narrow picturesque streets, with art galleries, craft shops,a specialist chocolate shop that sells super ice cream, tea shops, restaurants (The Quay Bistro is good), traditional pubs, 2 fish and chip shops and a newsagent. There is also 'John's of Appledore', a superb delicatessen and general store, selling everything you need - yummy fresh bread, locally caught fish, wines, greengrocery, everyday groceries and it has a post office which also acts as a cashpoint (extremely useful!). Freshly caught fish can be bought from a trawler on the quay - but you have to watch out for the sign. There are 2 bakers and a good butcher in Westward Ho and in Bideford (10 mins) there is a large Morrisons supermarket. Opposite Appledore, on the other side of the estuary, in Instow, there are several eating places which are worth trying. The Bar, The Boathouse, The Wayfarer, The Instow Arms and for something more formal, try The Commodore Hotel.
Carin Cottage has a woodburning stove and during the winter months a 'fuel starter pack' is provided (further supplies being available from John's on the quay). However, over the Christmas and New Year period, a good supply of logs will be supplied, hopefully to see you through your holiday.
