Ducklings Cottage
Ducklings Cottage

Ducklings is a 17th century cottage that has been thoughtfully updated to provide modern accommodation. The cottage has a double-height beamed sitting room with log burner and lovely church views, large master bedroom and two further bedrooms, bathroom, dining nook and a kitchen which looks out over a mature walled garden. Wareham is on the River Frome, whose pretty Quay has a choice of restaurants and pubs. The nearby high street has a good selection of local shops, the UK's last surviving gas-lit cinema, plus a historical weekly market. Though the local amenities are so close, the cottage's peaceful location feels more like that of a small village. Nearby are fascinating areas to explore; Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove, Poole Harbour, great beaches at Studland, Swanage, Worbarrow Bay. There are wildlife reserves that provide great opportunities for bird watching and rambling; also horse riding, several golf courses, sports centre. Hourly trains to London (approx 2 hours to Waterloo).

Travel
Hourly trains to London (Waterloo approx 2hours). Good network of local train and bus routes. A car would be an advantage for off-the-beaten-track adventures, but quite possible to have a 'car free' holiday, with or without bicycles, at Ducklings. The port at Poole (10 miles) has Ferries to Cherbourg and Saint Malo. International Airports at Bournemouth and Southampton, easy access to Gatwick and Heathrow.

Distances
Ducklings is 5 minutes walk from Wareham's shops, supermarket, tea rooms, pubs, restaurants, gas-lit cinema, and (we think) the best fish and chips in the land.
