Owner profile

About the owner
I live at Ta Mill with my two children, Hugh and Tamsin and our sheepdog Heidi. I was brought up 17 miles away just across the border in Devon, on a sheep farm so I know all about hard work! During my twenties, I lived in Bristol, Twickenham and Hampshire but came back to Cornwall in 1997 to this unique picturesque spot called Ta Mill. Why Ta Mill? 'There is no place like home' and Ta Mill is set in a tranquil valley with the dramatic North cornish coastline only a short drive. My kids are growing up surfing, swimming and kayaking and have access to stunning beaches and beautiful countryside in a peaceful and safe environment. With Bodmin moor so close, there is something for everyone including walking, fishing, birdwatching or just relaxing.

Year purchased: 1997

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Ta Mill is only 7 miles from the coast and 3 miles from the moor. We have 45 acres of farmland and I look after 100 ewes - an interesting mixture of sheep breeds! There is a 1/2 mile nature trail (wheelchair and pushchair friendly) which follows a meandering brook through the valley, wildlife ponds and natural outcrops- a haven for nature. Superb location for touring Devon and Cornwall with many historic buildings and gardens to visit including National Trust Lanhydrock and Lydford gorge and the famous Eden Project. An idyllic setting.
