Owner profile
Lorien's Owner - Ru Hill
About the owner
Ru bought Lorien Cottage in the autumn of 2002 and had a great time decorating and furnishing it as both home and for holiday lets when he was away. Now he's running his own resort in Costa Rica and would be delighted to see you if you're after some winter sun and first rate surf coaching. Meantime, his Mum, Rosemary, has very willingly stepped in to run the holiday lets at Lorien - she enjoys any excuse, even an unscheduled bit of maintenance at Lorien, to spend a few days exploring more of Cornwall's fabulous coast, not to mention all the superb watering holes! Lindsay does a great job with the housekeeping between the holiday lets, plus William in the garden and Robin dealing with any of the technical maintenance. Please don't hesitate to ask any further questions about Lorien.
Year purchased: 2002
Why the owner chose a home in this location
Ru bought Lorien Cottage whilst working locally with a view to putting down the roots in this arguably most beautiful part of Cornwall; but as they say, 'you have to go where the work is' and so he is now based in Costa Rica, equally beautiful but he never misses an opportunity to catch the Cornish air and waves on visits to the UK!
Unique benefits of the property
Our family's roots are in fact in St Austell where Ru's aunt still lives and we often meet at the Earl of St Vincent at Egloshayle for a fabulous meal. A favourite family walk is to park at Daymer Bay, and walk the circuit via St Enodoc, lunch stop at Rock and back via the beach. Friday morning's catch of the day at Port Isaac then back again in the evening on the Platt for The Fisherman's Friends. Aah, but can I walk that hill twice in a day? Other relatives like to come and visit and play at Roserrow or St Enodoc. Not forgetting of course a BBQ back at Lorien!
