Our cottage, Choughs, is a very good value, self-catering holiday home, ideal for 2 to 3 people (or two adults and two children). Port Isaac is a 700-year-old fishing village, nestling between the cliffs on the rugged north Cornwall coast. It has been welcoming tourists for years but still retains a quaint and uncommercialised charm. Recently, it has been widely admired as the beautiful setting for the film The Shell Seekers and the TV series Doc Martin. It is also an ideal base from which to visit Padstow (and Rick Stein's many eating venues!), Rock, the beaches at Polzeath and Daymer Bay, Tintagel Castle and the National Trust's Lanhydrock House and Gardens. The Eden Project, St Michael's Mount and Tate St Ives are all within easy reach by car.

Notes on accommodation
Choughs is perfect for two to three people. It is simply but comfortably furnished – and traditional rather than ultra-modern. The cottage is just 50 metres from the beach but does not have a view of the sea. There is an electric fire in the living room, as well as an oil-fired storage heater. Both bedrooms have convector heaters. An immersion heater supplies hot water to the kitchen and bathroom. Sorry, we are unable to accept pets, and we do not permit smoking in the cottage.

Accessibility
Kitchen/living room on ground floor. Main bedroom and bathroom on the first floor. Second bedroom on the second floor. The stairs are quite steep and both have hand rails.
Outside
Choughs has a tiny, colourful front garden, plus a back door that leads to our shed and also to an alleyway out to the adjoining street. When arriving and departing, it is possible to park, briefly, within 20 yards of the front door to unload/load your car. At other times, you must park in the main car park at the top of Port Isaac; the walk up the hill will help work off all the fresh fish and cream teas you will have enjoyed! You can buy a one-week parking ticket from the machine at the car park, allowing you to park at many other car parks in North Cornwall.
Coast/Beach
Choughs is located just 50 yards from Port Isaac's pebbly/sandy beach. At low tide the rock pools are fascinating to explore.
Travel
For visitors without a car, Port Isaac can be reached by train. The nearest station is Bodmin Parkway (15 miles) and a taxi costs about £35. The nearest town is Wadebridge (9 miles).
Distances
Tintagel Castle, Boscastle, Polzeath Beach, Daymer Bay, Rock, Padstow and St Enodoc golf course are all between three and 10 miles away by car.
Further details
There are some lovely restaurants around the Platt (harbour), all just a moment's stroll from our cottage, so you won't have to worry about driving home. And during the summer months look out for two early evening attractions: on Thursdays, the St Breward Silver Band sets Port Isaac alight with its renowned Floral Dance procession down to the harbour, while on Fridays the local Fisherman's Friends singers perform traditional sea shanties, wonderfully evoking fishing times gone by [They made their Glastonbury debut in 2010!]. Both events are free and popular with children and adults alike.
Booking notes
We require a £100 deposit to be paid at time of booking, with the remainder paid four weeks prior to the start of your holiday. For bookings made within four weeks, we ask for the whole sum to be paid immediately.
