Homeleigh is a 19th Century cottage in the centre of the peaceful Dartmoor village of Bridestowe. It retains many of its original features with large, stone fireplace and oak beams in the spacious living room. The small, secluded garden comes complete with patio and picnic table. Just a stone's throw from the local pub and shop, the cottage has views of the open moor only a mile away. Conveniently positioned just a few miles from the market towns of Okehampton, Tavistock and Launceston, the village is a perfect spot from which to explore the delights of Dartmoor National Park, while the north coasts of Devon and Cornwall are only 45 mins drive away. Bridestowe lies on the National Cycle Network and is very close to the Okehampton to Tavistock railway track - now a delightful cycle path. The historic village of Lydford with its famous gorge is only 3 miles away. The cottage has oil-fired central heating and the added advantage of a cosy open fire for those colder evenings.

Guest comments
Dear Terry, Thanks for a wonderful stay in your cosy cottage. It had everything we needed - good books and maps of Dartmoor, DVD's (even in Danish!) and an amazing and different CD collection. We spent time enjoying all your personal things. A wonderful week! Henriksen family - Denmark.
A very relaxing week in a lovely cottage. Very quiet but had everything we needed. Felt very much at home. Loved all the books and wish we had had more time to read them. Movies were very handy and a good CD collection too. Really enjoyed our days out to Port Isaac, Okehampton Agricultural Show, Tavistock Market and Lydford Gorge. Wish we could stay longer. About the owner
Hi, I'm Terry. I'm a retired teacher and I lived in Homeleigh cottage for twenty years before moving to Horrabridge, near Tavistock, with my partner, a few years ago. I am a biologist and keen naturalist, enjoying the delights of Dartmoor and the countryside around it. My interests include walking, cycling, ornithology, gardening and travelling - particularly to see children and grandchildren. I am an active member of the Devon Wildlife Trust. I am still very fond of my cottage in Bridestowe and want you to enjoy it as much as I do!
Year purchased: 1980's
Why the owner chose a home in this location
I moved to Bridestowe from London in 1987 because I love the countryside and particularly enjoy the wilderness and wildlife that Dartmoor offers. I was impressed by the community life of Bridestowe and the friendliness of the people who live there. It's tranquillity and slow pace of life attracted me, whilst the close proximity of the village stores and pub was a big advantage!
Unique benefits of the property
Bridestowe is ideally positioned at the edge of Dartmoor - a small village close to the market towns of Okehampton, Tavistock and Launceston and within easy striking distance of the wonderful north coasts of Devon and Cornwall. The cottage is in the heart of a lively village, in one of the most beautiful areas of the south-west of England.
