Sleep to the Sound of Waves, Right on Porthmeor Beach, St Ives
Sleeps 4 (1 Bedrooms)

St Ives is an artists' colony, fishing village and holiday haunt. Porthmeor Beach, famous for surfing is the jewel. The view from the living room is rock pools, wide sandy beach and the Atlantic - calm one day, full of great white caps the next. The light is fantastic and explains why Porthmeor has been painted by so many famous artists including Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth, Bernard Leach, Patrick Heron. Piazza/Barnaloft is a Civic Trust Award winning building constructed of granite and glass that fronts and has private access to Porthmeor Beach. It is a few doors away from the St Ives School of Painting and the warren of Porthmeor studios, all used by working artists. The Tate at St Ives Museum is further along the beach. On nearby Barnoon Hill is the Hepworth Musueum and amazing Sculpture Garden. The town itself is a delightful jumble of shops, restaurants, galleries, open spaces, gardens, seagulls, bars and cafes. All within walking distance so no need for a car!

"We had a wonderful time - thank you very much. We saw dolphins swimming with the surfers from the balcony which was very exciting!"
We had a wonderful week in July 2011 for our wedding anniversary....the apartment is lovely...everything you would want or need...the views are breath taking both over the beach and the upstairs balcony over the town...we had some lovely evenings BBQ with family down on Pothgwidden Beach and lovely evenings sat on the upstairs balcony watching the world go by....waking up to the sun blazing through all the windows was magnifcant.... i really shouldn't praise too much otherwise it may be fully booked when we want too return ..........but its difficult not too.......already booked for next year....the only downside would be the stairs as they are very steep in the apartment....and there are quite a few to get upto the apartment but well worth it even with all my luggage....the car space was great we only moved the car once....st ives has it all...
