Each suite (with either 1 or 2 bedrooms) is luxurious and self-contained with fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, living and dining room. Each suite is unique in its decoration, but all share the same peaceful luxury and 17th century character of Orton Hall. Guests have full use of the grounds including the characteristic Great Hall with its grand piano, snooker table, feature fireplace and original oak panelling. Ideal for romantic breaks and peaceful getaways, Orton Hall has plenty of beautiful walks on the doorstep, nearby cycling, golf, riding and fishing; and easy access to the rest of the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales. Exclusive free membership to the nearby North Lakes Spa is included in the rental tariff. Orton Village hosts the nationally acclaimed and award-winning Orton Farmers' Market (multiple winner of NW Fine Foods awards 2008) every month where local farmers, producers & artisan craftsmen offer a tremendous variety of high quality and speciality local produce and crafts.

Changeover day
Changeover day can be any day of the week except Sunday. Guests can arrive to collect their keys from 4pm, and we ask that you vacate the apartment by 11am.

The spacious living room of the ground floor Royalist Suite reflects the traditional character of Orton Hall with its oak panelling on the walls and ceiling. There is a feature fireplace and impressive bookcase housing a library of books and videos for your use. The dining area, with seating for 4, overlooks the grounds and pond through large bay windows. The key feature of this apartment is the 'secret doorway' that leads through the bookcase to your double en-suite bedroom. The bedroom is bright and furnished with traditional period furniture, and a king size bed. The en-suite bathroom has wc, sink, bath and shower.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday along with microwave, dishwasher, cooker, fridge/ freezer, hob, kettle, toaster and much more.

 

Check availability The Duke of Clarendon Suite
The Duke of Clarendon Suite is situated on the first floor of Orton Hall, towards the front of the house. The apartment is modern in decoration but retains its traditional charm as seen throughout the house. The raised dining area offers commanding views across the gardens and parkland of Orton Hall, perfect scenery whilst enjoying your breakfast. The living room is modern in decoration and has a TV, DVD player, video player, CD/ cassette radio and a selection of videos and books for your use. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable self-catering holiday, including cooker, hob, fridge freezer kettle, toaster, microwave, iron, dishwasher and much more. The double bedroom is bright and spacious, and the apartment's original window shutters will keep out even the most persistent sunshine in the morning if you fancy a lie in! The bathroom has wc, sink, shower and a luxurious electronic spa bath. Free membership to the North Lakes Spa is included.

The Rochester Wing is a large spacious suite situated on the first floor at the back of the house. Each room enjoys splendid views across the gardens and Cumbrian fells. The living room is large and spacious, with large original stone mullioned windows. The living room has a large feature fireplace, comfy sofas, TV, DVD player, video player and CD / cassette radio. There is a library of books and videos for your use. The dining table seats 6 people and is set in the large bay window overlooking the 7 acres of woodland. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for a self-catering holiday including fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, cooker and much more. The master bedroom has an imposing king size 4-poster bed and traditional furniture. The 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds which can be pushed together if required. The bathroom has been recently renovated to a modern style and includes a luxury spa bath, electronic shower, wc, sink and storage. Free spa membership included.

The Naseby Suite has undergone a full refurbishment in June 2009. Accessed through the Great Hall, the suite is located at the rear of Orton Hall on the first floor with beautiful views over the grounds through the stone-mullioned windows. The spacious bedroom has a king-size bed and room for a baby or toddler if guests provide their own travel cot. The bathroom features a whirlpool bath and electric shower – perfect for easing muscles after a long walk in the fells.

The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric cooker with halogen hob, microwave oven, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and a full selection of kitchenware and utensils.

The cosy semi-oak paneled living room with a long window seat and comfortable sofa features a flat-screen TV, DVD player and Freesat receiver plus a DAB clock radio with iPod docking station if you wish to bring your favourite tunes with you. There is also a library of modern and classic books and DVDs.
Free spa membership included.

 

Notes on accommodation
Electricity is recorded by meter and charged on an honesty basis on departure from the apartment. This accommodation suitable for romantic getaways, family holidays, couples and quiet breaks. Guests are welcome to bring a travel cot if required, there is plenty of room in each suite. We may be able to provide a foldaway bed for 1 additional child (subject to availability, please enquire on booking).

Accessibility
The Royalist Suite is the best choice of apartment for people with poor mobility as it is located on the ground floor. However, there are 4 large stone steps up to the front door of the house which you will need to consider. Unsuitable for wheelchair users.

Outside
Orton Hall is set in 7 acres of gardens and woodland, perfect for children and adults alike to explore. See if you can spot our red squirrel! There are seating areas and picnic tables dotted around the grounds, perfect for a quiet picnic without having to use the car. Outside of the grounds, there is an abundance of Lake District beauty right on your doorstep - perfect for walking, cycling and exploring.

Golf
There are many golf courses in the area, catering for all standards so you are spoilt for choice. Please ask us for details of a website that provides a good source of information on all local courses.
There is an all weather golf centre and driving range in Penrith with a 9 hole pay-as-you-play course and 300 yard driving range. Open 7 days 9am to 9pm. Just off junction 40 of the M6 on the A66 to Keswick.
