Notes on accommodation
Haycorn Cottage is a cosy one bedroomed cottage offering flexible accommodation for up to 5 people but is most suitable for a couple or 3 singles. It has recently been sympathetically renovated and offers modern facilities whilst retaining many original features including oak beams, slate floor, and a fireplace with cloam oven. This sunny cottage faces south and benefits from central heating with individual radiator thermostats. The owners live in the adjoining cottage and will welcome you with a complimentary cream tea. We operate a no-smoking policy in the cottage and regret that we cannot accommodate your pets. You will find lots of useful information leaflets in the cottage about where to go and what to do and you are welcome to borrow the Ordnance Survey maps of the surrounding area. There are no hidden charges - all fuel and electricity are included in the rental. Mobile phone reception is generally good here.

Amenities/Facilities provided
hob/stove oven fridge/freezer microwave
washing machine tumble dryer iron/ironing board tv
central heating barbecue

Accessibility
The cottage is accessed from the gravelled parking area over a slate patio. A cobbled and paved path leads to the outside shower room and there is one step up to the lawn. Inside, the original slate floor is uneven and partly covered with rugs. Because of the beams headroom is restricted in the living room(6ft). A twisting wooden staircase with handrails leads upstairs to a landing with a step into the bedroom and a step to the bathroom. The bedroom floor is wooden with bedside rugs.

Outside
There is a large garden with rural views over the surrounding farmland and as far as Dartmoor on a clear day. The sheltered decking area of the games room in the garden is an ideal spot to relax with a book or an evening drink, watching the sun go down. Garden furniture is provided and you may use the barbecue. There is a small pond and a well in the garden.

Coast/Beach
The closest beaches are at Port Wrinkle, just below Whitsand Bay golf course, and Seaton, both about 5 miles away with easy parking. Whitsand Bay itself has a sandy beach at the foot of the cliffs whilst the quaint fishing villages of Kingsand and Cawsand are well worth the 20 minute drive. To the west, Looe is just 7 miles away with its fishing port and beach. If you enjoy walking, the coast path runs all along this Heritage coastline.

Golf
The stunning clifftop course at Whitsand Bay is the nearest golf course, being about 5 miles away. The Championship course at St. Mellion is 12 miles distant and the courses at Looe, Lanhydrock, Lostwithiel and China Fleet are all within easy reach. The golf department at Kernow Mill is in walking distance of the cottage and also offers retail therapy for non-golfing companions! The games room has plenty of space to store your golf equipment.

Special interest holidays
We offer fly fishing tuition for beginners or improvers and can provide guided days on many local waters. Peter is a Licensed Game Angling Instructor (trout) with a life long passion for fishing which he would love to share with you. Bake Lakes, which offer both trout and coarse fishing all year round, are just under a mile away. Siblyback Lake is about 10 miles away on Bodmin Moor and the other South West Lakes Trust waters are all easily reached. We can arrange permits for Angling 2000 venues. We also offer fish smoking and freezing facilities.

Travel
Airports at Plymouth (15 miles), Newquay (35 miles), and Exeter (40 miles). Ferry port at Plymouth (12 miles) with crossings to Roscoff and Santander. Railway stations at St. Germans, Liskeard and Plymouth on the main line from London to Penzance. You do need a car here but the train is a good way to explore further west in Cornwall and there are several steam railways in the area.

Distances
The pretty village of St. Germans is just under 2 miles away, Liskeard 6 miles and Torpoint with its chain ferry to Plymouth is 10 miles away. Mount Edgcumbe, Kingsand and Cawsand on the Rame peninsula are about 15 miles and Fowey is about 20 miles. The Eden Project is roughly 40 minutes drive and other renowned gardens of Cornwall such as Heligan are an hour or so away.

Further details
There is a Post Office and general stores in St. Germans. The nearest supermarkets and banks are in Liskeard, Torpoint and Saltash. There are cafe/restaurants nearby and pubs serving food in St. Germans, Hessenford and Tideford where there is also a good butcher. Looe has a wide choice of places to eat and hosts the annual Taste South East food festival each autumn.
