Welcome to Cowes View, your seaside home from home, a place where smugglers were once stopped bringing whisky and tobacco ashore and later where coastguards aided seafaring folk. Now you can soak up the history and the whisky ! This seaside cottage is one of a terrace in a slightly elevated position overlooking the beach enjoying amazing sea views across the Solent. A shingle path with steps to the beach, shingle at high tide, sand at low. Renovated as an holiday cottage it is cosy, modern and comfortable, a place to relax. This coastal retreat is just 70 miles from London an hour and half drive or similar by train, it has broadband for those who want to keep in touch. The waterside cottage has two bedrooms to sleep 5, a family bathroom, plus a shower room each with wc. This seaside home from home, is a secret made to share.

Accessibility
Cowes View’s accommodation consists of: The ground floor which is on one level with one step down from the pavement into the courtyard and on to the entrance door which leads into the kitchen.

Coast/Beach
The cottage has direct access to the beach via some steps and a shingle path, the beach is shingle at high tide, low tide it is sandy. There are coastal walks,the Solent Way, which is varied from man made paths to beach to cliffs. Wind and kite surfing is 5 minutes away eastwards along the beach and sailing courses available on the river Hamble 7 miles away. The local pub is several minutes walk along the beach serving good family pub food.
Travel
Hill Head is 70 miles from London, Southampton airport is 12 miles, Portsmouth french ferry port is 10 miles, Fareham train station is 5 miles, Portsmouth Harbour train station is 6 miles if you take the Gosport passenger ferry. A car is not essential as the local bus service is close by.
Distances
There is a wealth of waterbased activities all year round, kite and wind surfing, including instruction, sailing courses on the River Hamble and at Haslar Marina, rib excursions from Gunwharf quays, Portsmouth. There is a foot passenger ferry that runs between Gosport and Portsmouth where you can catch the ferry to the Isle of Wight, visit the Spinnikar Tower, HMS Victory, the Mary Rose, HMS Warrior, and many other maritime and cultural places of interest in Southampton and Portsmouth.
