The Gables was built in 1891 and was once a grand home on route to the cathedral city of Canterbury, it has now been renovated to a high standard to provide 4 large luxurious apartments, including the ground floor and 1st floor here. The Gables is perfectly situated for a stroll into the city, less than 5 minutes away. If you prefer to travel farther afield access to the A2 and motorway network couldnt be easier with no need to negotiate the city traffic.
Canterbury West staion is 5 minutes walk from where the high speed train can have you arrive in London St Pancras in an hour, alternatively travel to Ashford International and be having lunch in Brussels in under 2 hours or Paris in under 3.

Large ground floor apartment in restored Victorian Villa in the beautiful city of Canterbury, this apartment has its own front door and private courtyard garden with BBQ and wrought iron furniture.
Inside the large lounge has many period features,including Victorian fire place, cornicing and plaster work, there is also a formal dining area with seating for 4,
The large fully equipped kitchen includes, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge/freezer oven and hob. There is also a butlers sink set into Oak work surfaces. The shower room has been fully tiled and has underfloor heating for extra comfort.
There is also a casual dining area.

The large shower room is fully tiled and includes a double shower cubicle and underfloor heating for extra comfort.

 

Notes on accommodation
Please note that whilst the Gables is a great venue for a celebration or get together it is not designed as a party venue, we welcome all groups to enjoy their stay but advise that to respect our neighbours and the location loud music or over exuberance and drunkeness will not be permitted.

Accessibility
Apartment 1 is ground floor access, with all facilities on the same level. Apartment 2 is 1st floor level and requires using stairs to access all rooms.p

Outside
Apartment 1 has a private gated courtyard, there is wrought iron Victorian furniture together with a BBQ. Apartment 2 has its own allocated courtyard area with wrought iron Victorian furniture and BBQ. Each apartment also benefits from their own parking space which are off road.

Coast/Beach
The picturesque fishing town of Whitstable is just 5 miles from the Gables and is easily reached by car, there is also regular bus travel from almost outside the door, or for those with a little more energy a cycle route along the now defunct Crab and Winkle railway is an enjoyable way to see the area. Famed for its Oysters Whitstable has enjoyed a revival in recent years and now boasts many individual restaraunts, cafes, and shops selling local fair and products.

Golf
For golfers we have a selection of courses nearby to test all handicaps, Boughton Golf Club is just 3 miles away and has excellent facilities including driving range, 9 hole accademy course, pro shop, and restaruant. Canterbury Golf club, Scotland Hills, is a long established parkland course set amongst established woodland and heath and is a challenge for even the lowest of handicaps. Of course we can't mention golfing in Kent without naming our own Open venue at Sandwich, Royal St Georges, most recently having held the open in 2011 and 2003. If Royal St Georges seems a little too daunting why not try Princes Golf club which is right next door, however this is no push over and has had the honour of holding the British Open itself once.

Travel
The Port of Dover is approx 15 miles for cross Cahnnel ferry operators, Euro tunnel departures at Folkestone are approx 15 miles for car passengers, Ashford international is approx 16 miles for Eurostar servives to the continent and direct into London.

Canterbury West station is 5 minutes walk for services to London and the East Kent Coast.

Gatwick airport is approx 45 miles, Heathrow 70 miles.

Within 5 minutes walk of the city walls, local shops, cafes, and restaurants. Canterbury is bursting with things to do, for those who enjoy the theatre we have the new Marlowe, for those who enjoy a little retail therapy we have an abundance of shops from the smallest independant outlets with their unique and unusual to the award winning stores in and around the Whitefriars development. All the shopping of course requires refreshments at every oppotunity and Im delighted to say Canterbury has an enviable array of restaraunts and Cafes, having lived in and near the city all my life I do have a few favourites which I would be delighted to share with you when you visit, or of course just pop in whichever takes your fancy.. And the best for last? Canterbury has been a place of pilgrimage for thousands of years and still delights new and old visitors with its historic attractions and places of interest, there simply is not the room here to list all places to visit in the city let alone the surrounding areas, but from the Gables you will have a great view of perhaps our most famous landmark and only 10 minutes on foot to be inside it.

Booking notes
We ask for a 25% Deposit to secure your dates, with the balance due 6 weeks before your arrival. For the duration of your stay we hold a £250 breakages deposit which is returned within 14 days of departure subject to any damages.
