The cottage is a grade 2 listed mid-terraced thatched house in the beautiful and historic village of Winkleigh. It has retained much of its old world charm and character with features including original ceiling beams and a superb stone inglenook fireplace. From the front door can be seen Dartmoor, approximately ten miles away with the rear of the property abutting the church yard of Winkleighs impressive 15 th century church. The sitting room (approx 16 feet by 14 feet) is heated by a wood burning stove and to the left of its fireplace, a curved staircase leads to the two upstairs bedrooms (one double/one single). In two raised levels to the rear of the living room are the dining area and recently fitted kitchen and bathroom with an electric shower. A decked courtyard garden off the kitchen is an ideal place to enjoy some alfresco dining with the chiming of the church clock the only likely accompaniment in this tranquil and historic Devon village.

The coastal path that runs all the way around Devon and Cornwall is closest at 'Green Cliff' or 'Clovelly', both close to Bideford and about 45 mins by car.
South Devon, South Dorset and many South Cornish beaches are between 1hr10 to 2hr10 away.

Golf
There are many golf courses in Devon and the surrounding vicinity!

Skiing
I regret to announce that due to a lack of snow the Devon skiing industry went into receivership earlier this year.

Exeter airport is approximately a 50 min drive from Winkleigh.
Bristol airport is approximately a 90 min drive from Winkleigh.
Plymouth Ferry terminal is about a 60min drive.

Distances
Winkleigh is approximately half way between and ten miles from the towns of Okehampton (North Dartmoor) and Great Torrington (North Devon). The nearby National Trust properties of Castle Drogo and Lydford Gorge are about a 30mins drive and RHS Rosemoor gardens near Great Torrington are a 20 min drive away.
The historic city of Exeter is about a 35 mins drive and those wishing to visit the Eden project should allow 1hr30min.

Further details
Winkleigh has a village shop that is open from 8:30am to 6:30pm (Sundays until 12:30pm). There is also a butchers and a post office. The Kings Arms is characterful and serves excellent food. There is no cash point in the village but both the pub and the shop will do cash back. The village also has its own cider press which welcomes visitors. Nearby Eggesford gardening centre is worth a visit and serves excellent Devon cream teas. On the outskirts of the village are woodlands with tracks for walking and cycling. Both Okehampton and Crediton have bike shops that repair as well as sell.
