Flip Flop Flat is on the first floor of a purpose built new building with stunning countryside views, allocated parking and secure entry system. The flat has been newly decorated and refurnished very comfortably and is extremely well equipped. There is a post office and stores within a few minutes walk, and the town quay is a 10 minute walk. Readymoney Cove (a blue flag beach) is 15 minutes walk. There is also a shuttle bus if you do not wish to walk. Fowey itself offers a huge choice of restaurants and leisure pursuits, including RYA sailing tuition, canoeing and boat hire. There are several other beaches nearby and there are wonderful walks all around Fowey or following the coast path further afield. The north Cornwall coast is only an hour away, offering superb surfing beaches with hire facilities. For garden lovers there are renowned National Trust gardens to visit, as well as the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Golfers have an excellent choice of golf courses.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. Prices include all utilities. During the winter months we offer Weekend Breaks, Friday to Monday or Midweek Breaks, Monday to Friday. Either option is available for £140. Please contact us for further details.

Changeover day
Our changeover day is Friday from the beginning of November, in order to offer mid week and weekend breaks. The apartment is available from 3pm on day of arrival. Departure by 10am. In April we revert to Saturday changeovers.

Bedroom 2 with 2 single beds.
A cot, suitable for 0-3 years, is available should you need it.
Bathrooms: Very spacious en-suite shower room with WC to bedroom 1. Plus, good sized family bathroom with bath, hand held shower, and WC.
Kitchen: Fully equipped with gas hob, electric oven and grill, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave cooker, washer/dryer and waste disposal.
Living Rooms: Living room with dining area. Two leather settees, Digital TV with Freeview channels, DVD, board games, and informative books about the area.

Duvets and pillows are all provided for your use. We do ask however that you bring your own bedlinen, towels and tea towels. We have done this in order to try to keep our rental rates competetive.

Notes on accommodation
No smoking. No pets allowed. No charge for heating or electricity.
Free WIFI will be available from Easter onwards.

Accessibility
The apartment is very safe and secure and approached via a wide staircase. The outer door is security locked with telephone entry system.
Flip Flop Flat also benefits from being on the first floor from the entrance level and has no other apartments above it.
The Town Bus provides easy links to and from town for those who find walking difficult.

Outside
The gardens surrounding the flats are communally owned and maintained. The private parking place allocated to the flat is almost opposite the entry door.

Coast/Beach
Readymoney Cove, Fowey, which is very safe for children and has wonderful views across the harbour mouth and out to sea, is the local beach and is within 15 minutes walk. Polkerris beach, with pub and beach cafe, and lots of children's pedalos and inflatables to hire, is 5 minutes by car. Par Sands are 7 minutes - a mile of sandy beach and safe bathing for children. Surfing beaches on the north coast of Cornwall are about 45 minutes away, and you can hire wet suits/boards at modest cost.

Golf
There are several golf courses in close proximity to Fowey, and those at Carlyon Bay, Porthpean, St Austell, Lostwithiel and Lanhydrock are all within 10 miles (about 20 minutes by car).
Carlyon Bay has a beautiful golf course with fabulous views across St Austell Bay and a challenging layout. Porthpean is not as exotic (and is cheaper!) but still has lovely sea views. The others are inland, set in beautiful countryside.
All the golf clubs have club houses with refreshments available and welcome visitors. We suggest that you visit the individual websites before your visit to check out prices and facilities. We are sure you will find one that suits your needs.

Special interest holidays
Learn to sail: RYA approved sailing instruction available for adults and children. Canoeing instruction also easily arranged. Pleasure boat hire available by the hour or by the week. Gardeners' delight: Ideal centre for visiting specialist gardens - numerous National Trust sites plus RHS garden at Trebah. Also a huge choice of privately owned gardens across the county via the National Gardens scheme'. Walkers' heaven: Classic walking available all around the area, shorter walks without needing to get in a car; or more challenging walking following the National Trust Coast Path or across the county walking the Saints Way.
Many challenging and beautiful Golf Courses within easy reach as detailed above.

Travel
Nearest railway station is Par: 3 miles from Fowey.
Newquay Airport is 27 miles distant and Exeter Airport 82 miles.
Plymouth is 35 miles away and is the nearest sea port for Channel crossings (Brittany Ferries), and the journey time from Plymouth to Fowey is about 70 minutes.
Visiting by car, whether hired or owned, is probably the best way to see the more remote parts of Cornwall. However if you want to get away from driving, there is lots to do in and around Fowey without need of a car.

Distances
The Eden Project is 25 minutes away. Supermarkets (Asda/Tesco) in St Austell, 20 minutes away. St Austell also has a sports centre with swimming pool. There are also Multi Screen cinemas at St Austell (recently reopened) and Wadebridge (about 40 minutes away).
Truro is a lovely city with its fabulous cathedral. It has lots of interesting shops, (M&S, Waterstones, Lakeland, Nat Trust etc) and has a street market every Wednesday with lots of produce and crafts produced and made in Cornwall.

Further details
There are local 'Fowey Town Buses' which are reasonably priced and run continuously all day up to about 6pm. The drivers are very amenable and will pick you up in the centre of town and drop you right outside your door, at the beach or anywhere else on their route.

About the owner
Joe and I have lived permanently in Fowey for the past 15 years and have both recently retired. Having enjoyed many past holidays here we chose Fowey because we enjoy all kinds of boating, the wonderful variety of walks on offer and the great sense of community that exists in Fowey. We also enjoy having a great choice of places to eat out without needing to get in a car. We both feel that this is a wonderful place to live, as well as for people to visit, and we greatly enjoy helping our guests to make the very best of their time here.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We chose the apartment because of its quiet location, lovely views across rolling countryside and because it would have private parking for our guests. We also wanted somewhere in Fowey itself so that we could look after the property ourselves. The start of a Town Bus service in recent years, which drops you outside your door, has really been a boon for those who don't want too much walking or if the weather is bad. As we are now pensioners we use it free of charge - what a bargain for us and for our more senior guests!

Unique benefits of the property
We liked the build quality, the comprehensive range of fitted appliances and the ease of maintenance. Having the choice of a very spacious shower and a good sized bathroom were, we felt, a real bonus and especially luxurious for couples. The apartment is always warm and cosy whatever the weather due to the central heating system being both quick and efficient - always a consideration in Cornwall. Last winter we laid beautiful new Wilton carpeting in the lounge and hallway to make the flat feel that little bit more luxurious.
