Pollywinky Cottage has been freshly decorated and recently updated and is ideal for summer beach holiday or cosy winter break. Situated on a quiet no-through lane with lovely views across fields, it has a pretty enclosed front garden and back yard, making it ideal for families of all ages. An idyllic 10 min walk down through fields and by a stream leads to Trebarwith Strand beach with golden sands and excellent surfing in summer, rolling waves and rock pools in winter. The Coastal Path is 5 mins walk and Pollywinky's location makes exploring North Cornwall easy. Legendary Tintagel is 1.5 miles away and the Camel Estuary and its many surrounding beaches 30 mins drive. The Mill House and Port William inns, serving great food, are 10 mins walk. The cottage has central heating and wood burning stove. There is parking for 1 car. We have stayed in many rental properties ourselves and have created a comfortable, family-friendly cottage with an attractive interior and high quality furnishings.

Changeover day
Our changeover day is Saturday on a weekly rental though we are often able to accommodate other start days if at all possible. We also have short breaks available at quieter times of the year - see our website for details.

All duvets, pillows, blankets for beds and cot provided. Egyptian cotton bed linen, tea towels, bath mats provided. Towels, beach towels, cot bed linen not provided. Cottage cleaned on arrival and weekly if required (duration of stay more than 1 week). |
Notes on accommodation
Electricity and full gas central heating included in rental. Initial fuel for woodburning stove included - thereafter available locally. Continuous hot water. Telephone accepts incoming/emergency calls only. For children there is a high-chair, travel cot, stair gate, booster seat, baby bouncy chair available. Trustworthy babysitter recommended. Free wireless broadband access provided. Stereo for CDs and tapes. Please bring own CDs. Children's videos and some DVDs provided, some games provided.

Accessibility
Small step up to enter ground floor. Staircase quite narrow and steep for infirm.
Outside
Pollywinky has a pretty front lawn with side access round to back yard. Both are safely enclosed for toddlers. There is an outside table with 2 benches (seats 6) and there is a sun lounger. There is a barbecue. Parking to front of cottage.
Coast/Beach
Trebarwith Strand is an idyllic 10 min walk down the lane & through fields. The beach is surrounded by rocky cliffs and stunning scenery and has its golden sands washed twice daily making lovely rock pools. The beach is available for 6 hrs over the low tide period and is wide and sandy in summer. It is great for families and has some of the best surfing in Cornwall. Life guards are on duty from May - Sept. Other nearby beaches are Polzeath, Daymer Bay, Widemouth Bay, Crackington Haven and Bude.
Golf
Trethorne Golf Club is 1/2 an hour's drive with a Leisure Farm on the same site for children. Beautiful St Enodoc Golf Club at Rock is also 1/2 an hour away. There are 2 other nearby golf clubs at St Kew (Wadebridge) and Bude (both 20 mins).
Travel
There is an airport at Newquay (30 mls) and Exeter (60 mls). By car from Bristol is 130 mls and London 230 mls. There is a railway station at Bodmin (mls). The nearest ferry port is at Plymouth (45 mls). A car is highly recommended for staying at Pollywinky and is essential for initial access.
Distances
Legendary Tintagel (1.5mls) is the nearest centre with all King Arthur's attractions. The sweet harbour village of Port Isaac is 10mls. Bustling Padstow is accessed by the ferry at Rock or car (20mls). The Camel Estuary with its cycling and wildlife trail is 13mls by car (bike hire avail at Wadebridge). The watersports centre of Rock with sailing, water-skiing and canoeing is 13mls. Daymer Bay with its windsurfing is 12mls. The Eden Project is 45 mins and Pencarrow and Lanhydrock Houses nearby.
Further details
The beach at Trebarwith Strand has a surf school, a well-known inn overlooking the beach, a cafe and a couple of shops. There are toilets and car parking. Tintagel has food shops, gift shops, beach and surf shops, a tourist info, doctors' surgery, post office (money withdrawal avail), cafes and coffee shops.
There is plenty of information provided at the cottage about the local area and further afield in Cornwall, as well as local walks booklets and maps.

Your cottage left nothing to be desired. It has been delightful thanks to your great care. Trebarwith a peach. So peaceful and so convenient for the Strand! - We've had a lovely time here. We found everything we needed and have enjoyed the surrounding beaches. - We've had a lovely, restful holiday. Our sons are quite big but with great surfing we all managed to have a great time. - We have had a most amazing holiday with great weather! The house is lovely and cosy. Beautiful art. - The cottage is great, we found everything we needed and the beds were so comfortable. We loved the beach at Trebarwith - good for body boarding. The Port William pub is worth a visit, great location. - An excellent walking holiday.
