Owner profile
About the owner
Platform 12 is a holiday home of Diane & Stewart Turner. Stewart works for himself as a surveyor and Diane runs her own Home Boarding for Dogs business called 'Digz'4'Dogz'. We both work from home in Wakefield and our business is mainly in Yorkshire. We spend as much time as possible in Whitby, but it would be a shame for someone not to benefit from this lovely cottage when we are not there.
Year purchased: 2009
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We first visited Whitby around 7 years ago which is around the time we first met. Whitby has something for everybody and is still a quaint seaside town with great landmarks, beaches and outstanding contributions to history. It didn't take long for us to realise that it's a place where we would love to live. We purchased a property on Oswy Street, so named after King Oswy who founded the Abbey. Oswy Street is one of the original railway terraces built for the railway workers in the 1860's. You can imagine that on hearing new railway cottages were proposed built with many original features, and having fantastic views of the Marina, Steam Trains and the Abbey we couldn't resist buying no.12 Railway Cottages. We named the cottage 'Platform 12' because of its close proximity to the station.
Unique benefits of the property
Platform 12 is located in arguably one of the finest locations in Whitby. It's just a few minutes flat walk from this historic town centre. You have your own private parking space directly in front of the cottage so you don't need to worry about losing your parking if you fancy a day touring the fantastic coast line or the North Yorkshire Moors.
