Owner profile
About the owner
The Atkinsons love their cottage and living in the village and find real pleasure in sharing their cottage.
They are all keen sailors and when ever possible they are on their boat exploring the local and 'not so local' waters.
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We adore living in Flushing for many many reasons; it couldn't get any closer to the sea; the stunning local walks that all start from the doorstep; the friendly strong village community and the freedom not to have to use the car. With such a good village facilities and network of ferries, the car just stays put.
We moved from another cottage in the village to Horizons, 3 years ago, as we loved the light and airy feel and it has the space that cottages often lack.
The village is unique in being a 'real' village, its not a tourist trap, full of over priced bucket and spade shops. It welcomes visitors into the village community rather than being swamped by them. This is clear to see during the Flushing Arts week in May, the Regatta / Carnival Week in July and the Summer Fete in August.
Unique benefits of the property
The surrounding countryside is beautiful with miles of coastal, estuary and inland walks; the mud flats and reed beds along the Penryn River are a haven for birdlife.
Wales, dolphins and seals are often seen in the local waters. The Ocra Sea safari specialises in fast boat trips viewing the sealife around the bay, or watch at a more leisurely pace from the many ferry and day trippers boats
For beach lovers, the 2 village beaches offer safe, clean swimming, perfect for the whole family including the dog. A short car journey takes you to the world famous surfing beaches of Newquay.
From Falmouth, you can explore the famous attractions including the National Maritime Museum, Pendennis Castle, art galleries, shops and restaurants, serving high quality, local seafood and world cuisine.
