Notes on accommodation
Romantic? Most definitely! Two couples? Ideal. For a group of friends? Perfect. A family? Oh yes. Smokers? Sorry, definitely not inside the building. Pets? Not allowed at all, sorry. The apartment has gas central heating and is carpeted in the main, with tiled floor in the kitchen, and cushion floor in the master bathroom. There is plenty of room in the lounge for the fold-up bed, or it can go in the master bedroom. This bedroom is in it's own wing of the apartment, and so would be quiet for a child, if they needed to be in bed earlier than the rest of the group. Linen is provided for this bed only on request in advance.

Accessibility
The apartment is on the second floor, has different levels within and is approached via a gravelled path. Not suitable for a wheelchair user, sorry.
It takes about 30 mins to do the pleasant walk into Bath to the central shops, and you can stroll through Victoria Park, along the famous Royal Crescent and through the Circus on the way. There are also direct buses every 15mins or so from very close by, and a taxi is only £7. Or drive in and park, fairly easily now, in the new Southgate car park

Outside
The property occupies in its own extensive grounds that even have a stream running through them. There are lawned areas and some shrubs, and fine mature trees. A lovely place to be in the morning sun. You have an allocated parking place and there is also further guest parking within the grounds.

Coast/Beach
Bath is about 1 hour's drive to the nearest beach at Weston Super Mare (sand, sand, and even more sand when the tide is out!) and 2 hour's drive to the beautiful Devon coast.

Golf
Lansdown Golf Club, adjacent to Bath Race course, is a mere 1.5 miles away, or for the less serious, there is a hilly pitch and putt (9 and 18 hole) by Victoria Park, almost in central Bath, also only 1.5 miles away. There are many other delightful courses in and around Bath to satisfy any golfer. Only 40 mins from the Ryder Cup venue, the Celtic Manor.

Travel
M4/A46 (Junction 18 on the M4) is about 10 minutes and Bristol International Airport is 30 minutes by car. London Heathrow is about 1hr 45m, Portsmouth docks about 2hrs.
London Paddington rail station is just over an hour on the train from Bath Spa station. A taxi will then be able to whisk you to Weston Lodge in 10 mins.
Driving around Bath is mostly OK, but parking can sometimes be hard to find in the centre, so taxis or buses and walking are often as quick and economical.

Distances
Bradford on Avon is a pretty old woollen mill town only a 30min drive away. Glastonbury is 45 minutes away, or visit Cheddar caves or Longleat Safari Park. Castle Coombe, a quaint village (and motor racing circuit) is 30 mins. Bristol 30 mins, Stonehenge, Lacock village, the south west awaits you. Weston Lodge is particularly easily reached from the M4 and the North, or Bristol and the South and West, without having to traverse the city.

Further details
Bath was Roman city, for 400 years. Attracted by the natural features of the area, they only departed when their Empire weakened. Bath is also the birthplace of the once modern Georgian style of architecture, which utilised many innovative techniques and of course the lovely warm golden local stone. Amazing buildings can be found around every corner of this World Heritage City.
Today, Bath is a small, but cosmopolitan, vibrant and lovely city. Great restaurants, museums, galleries, shops, theatre, concerts, festivals, the Thermae Spa baths, hot springs, walks or cycle rides along the canal or river, balloon rides; always something going on, and a wonderful dry and sunny climate make this lovely city a great holiday destination.
The Priory, Bath's only Michelin starred restaurant is 15 min walk away, with pubs and other restaurants, mini Tesco, shops and take-aways etc, all nearer still (5 min walk) in Weston village. Also nearby, should you need it, is the main local hospital, the RUH.

We have just spent a lovely relaxing weekend in Weston Lodge. What a beautiful apartment...it was so well equipped and very romantic...the photographs do not do it justice! We did lots of shopping in Bath, went on a lovely long country walk along the Cotswold Way and then rounded the weekend off with a fantastic Sunday lunch at the Bath Priory! We shall definitely be back for another visit soon! Anne Feb 2010

Owner profile

About the owner
I spend some of the time on the farm in Wales, and some in Bath with my partner. She's the one with the passion for interiors and an eye for style.

Year purchased: 2001

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
I liked Bath so much when I came here, I decided to buy a flat. And this is it! It ticks all my countryside needs and yet is within an easy walk of central Bath, this cosmopolitan city that has such great weather and so many attractions. Weston Lodge is as peaceful as the farm too!

Unique benefits of the property
You feel you are privileged to stay in a building such as this, which has a grand feel about it. The bathroom is the quirkiest I've ever seen. Shops etc are only a stroll away and the walk into town is a delight, as well as the walks on the doorstep in the area.
