The house is quintessentially English, in a barbours-in-the-hall, logs-in-the-basket, Blyton-by-the-bed sort of way...and the more people who fill it, the happier it feels. It's big, rambling, and a walk across playing fields brings you to Winchester. Almost all rooms have original cast-iron fireplaces, others have restored ones added. In the lovely sitting room on the first floor are 2 sofas and 4 armchairs, a big bay overlooking a smallish front garden (yours), a dresser spilling books, games, magazines and toys, a PlayStation and heaps of DVDs. It is relaxing, eye-catching, warm and comforting. In the kitchen are cream tiles and rose-sprigged walls, a big farmhouse table, curly wrought-iron chairs, a long church pew, a fridge with the essentials – a nice touch that is typical of the Fifields, who live on the ground floor. Bedrooms all brim with proper quilts and reading lamps, tartan blankets and contemporary chintz. If you stay, you'll soon return.

Notes on accommodation
Entering through your own front door, you'll find quirky rooms that have been beautifully designed with gorgeous vintage furniture, soft textiles and plenty of colour, creating a relaxing and homely atmosphere that's perfect for family get-togethers, college reunions or bridal parties. There's plenty of space for group socialising, with a roomy and comfortable lounge and a dining table that seats 10. The house is full of books, toys, films and games to entertain children and adults alike, and there's a pleasant garden at the front of the property where you can relax together outside. The property also offers some fantastic views, some rooms offer a birds-eye view of St Cross, and others overlook St Catherine’s Hill.
Accessibility
The house is all situated on the first and second floors with no lift. It is not suitable for disabled access. All the 'common rooms' are on the first floor which is flat apart from 2 steps. The stairs from the first to the second floor are steeper so not suitable for the infirm or very young children.

Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is approximately 30 miles (Lee-on-Solent) with pebble beach, water sports and probably the best chips-with-everything restaurant in the area. Other water sports (eg sailing) are closer with Southampton and the Hamble river just 10 minutes by car.
Golf
There are three golf courses, all within 2 miles of Deane Lodge: Hockley Golf Club, South Winchester Golf Club and Royal Winchester Golf Club.
