Owner profile
About the owner
We are dairy farmers in West Sussex who use this lovely cottage as our bolt hole with our extended families.
My husband and I both love gardening so we spend a lot of time doing the garden usually we are down every month to keep it looking good. The wood for the open fire comes from the Melbury Estate which we saw up ourselves!
The acre at the back of the property is mowed regularly for our visitors to use.
We have made the cottage as homely and welcoming and very well equipped as we use it for our own holidays with personal touches where possible. there is a library of of books comprising local history classics and biographys for our guests with board games and DVDS for those wet days.
Year purchased: 2000
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We chose Melbury Osmond as it was so lovely and peaceful and very historic with its close links to Thomas Hardy a favourite Author of ours.
Also it is within walking distance of the amazing Melbury Park and Elizabethan House with its Deer Park and milking herds.
We loved the wonderful wildlife stretching over 100's of acres. The views are lovely as we are high up on the hill and the walks amazing!
Unique benefits of the property
Very convenient for traveling to the coast and the facilities in Yeovil and Dorchester but yet very rural. Bridport our favourite town is only 30 mins away over the Beaminster Down via Evershot. There are also very good pubs in the area serving good locally sourced food.
Overall a place you can completley relax in and unwind there really is something for everyone including children as there is an adventure playground within walking distance.
