The cottages sit in a stunning location in the heart of rural Devon and the area like the cottages themselves have plenty to offer everyone. The closest village is the historic Shebbear which is ideal for those wanting to experience traditional village life, with surrounding countryside that leaves many in awe at is sheer natural beauty. It is even home to the famous Tarka trail which leads walkers and cyclist through some of south west England's most superb scenery.

Holidays booked within one month of arrival date will have a 5% discount, those booked within 3 weeks a 10% discount, within 2 weeks a 20% discount and those booked one week before arrival, a 30% discount!

Changeover day
For weekly bookings, the changeover day is Saturday except for Christmas/ New Year bookings.
Short Breaks of 2 nights or more are available outside peak times.

A large farmhouse kitchen and huge dining table to seat 14 comes with all crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils.
A 4 oven Aga plus back up electric cooker, a belfast sink and beautiful storage cupboards make this room home from home!
Adjoining the kitchen is the utility room which contains a larder fridge, another belfast sink with double drainer, microwave oven, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer.
Behind the utility room you will find a large walk in larder together with a good old fashioned cold shelf! In this room the under counter sized freezer is to be found.
There are three lounges, each with comfortable seating and open (guarded) fireswith two tvs/dvd players.
All bedrooms are upstairs and consist of three doubles (one ensuite), two single, one twin and a fantastic dormitory with 4 single beds!
In addition to the ensuite (which contains a bath, shower, toilet and basin) there is a shower room, bathroom with bath and shower over and another toilet downstairs.

The 4 bedrooms consist of one small double downstairs, two doubles upstairs and a small twin upstairs.
One double upstairs has an en suite shower, toilet and basin.
In addition there is a bathroom (bath with shower over) upstairs together with toilet and basin. The landing is gallery style.
The kitchen, dining area and lounge is open plan , the lounge has an open (guarded) fire. A tv with integral dvd player and an ipod docking station re provided.
All crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are provided.
There is a dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge and freezer (both under counter size).

Two small twin bedrooms are downstairs off the lounge, and a bathroom with bath/shower over, toilet and basin is also on the ground floor.
The remaining two double bedrooms are upstairs and are both en suite (one with shower and one with bath/shower over).
The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge and freezer (under counter). All crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are provided.
The lounge is L shaped and has TV with integral DVD and ipod docking station.
There is an open (guarded) fire.

 

Check availability Badger's House
One twin bedded room is downstairs and has a bathroom right next to it with grab rails, bath/shower over, family toilet and basin.
The other bedrooms (one twin and two doubles (one en suite)) are upstairs plus another bathroom. One of the doubles has an extra single bed.
All crockery and cutlery is provided together with cooking utensils and dishwasher,washer/dryer, fridge and freezer.
The lounge is well furnished and comfortable with a wood burning (guarded) stove, tv with integral dvd player and ipod docking station.
The kitchen is farmhouse style with a farmhouse table to seat 9.

 

Notes on accommodation
All properties are centrally heated and are EXRTREMELY baby and child friendly.

Accessibility
All cottages (not so much the house) are easy walk in access and Badger's House is suitable for wheelchair access.
Parking is right outside your own private garden.

Outside
Each property has it's own private garden with BBQ, picnic table, trampoline, and sandpit.
In addition there is shared use of the following:-
Heated indoor pool (5m x 10m) and 1.2 m depth throughout.
Gym
Sauna
Kick about area
Games room with table tennis, pool table footy, bar billiards, some computer games (these require coins) PS2 (no games provided) and a toddlers safe play area with video player and videos.
In the very private 40 acres you will find walks, woodland BBQ sites and a trout fishing lake (with some prize sized fish).
All ponds are fully fenced.

Coast/Beach
Bude Beach is the nearest at about 30 minutes drive and has a large flat sandy base (ideal for beach cricket etc!
It also boasts some of the best rockpools!

Golf
Several golf courses are within an easy drive.

Travel
Exeter Airport is 1 hours drive and Exeter St David's Station is about 45 minutes by car.

Distances
Holsworthy is about 20 mins by car, Bude is half an hour.
A local village shop in Sheepwash is about seven minutes drive.

Further details
Very nice pubs can be found a short drive away (5 to 10 minutes) in Sheepwash, Shebbear, Black Torrington and Brandis Corner.

About the owner
Ian Fogg is a retired company director who has created 4 holiday properties which are specifically set up to provide the most baby and toddler friendly environment. With 5 Grandchildren of his own, he knows only too well how difficult it is to go on holiday with all the equipment needed for babies and toddlers! His aim is that parents (and grandparents!) should be able to travel with just the children and the car seat!! Virtually everything else is awaiting their arrival at the cottages/house. With a strong background in his own businesses in the service industries, he realises that the test of any service is how many customers come back for more! He would also like to attract extended families who may want to holiday as a large group, but still want their own front door!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought this property for the location (it is in one of the quietest areas of Devon, with no traffic noise) and for it's tremendous character. Surrounded by it's own land, but within a short drive of the shops, it is a place which you never want to leave. The farmhouse is the original farm manager's house and is a fabulous family home, not ostentatious in any way, yet spacious and warm throughout...both in temperature and feel! Since buying it, we have purchased more land and woodland around, so the feeling of total tranquility is further enhanced now. About 5 years ago we converted the old barn, dairy and round house into three delightful cottages and themed them around Wind in The Willows, all have their own distinctive characters and are also fabulous holiday cottages.

Unique benefits of the property
Possibly the most relaxing place to holiday, with a lovely indoor heated pool, gym, sauna, games rooms, indoor toddler play area, outside swings and slides and your very own woodland walks...exclusively available to our guests! No need to pack all the baby and toddler equipment either...it's all waiting for you when you arrive (check out our website). Each cottage has it's own private garden plus trampoline with net, sandpit and a bbq ready for you to cook up a feast! There are more bbq areas in the woods for the adventurous. Both the little ponds are fully fenced off as is the trout fishing lake, which holds fish in excess of 7lbs.( There are approximately 200 fish in the lake, some rainbow trout and some brown form about 2 lbs to over 7 lbs!.
