Notes on accommodation
Well-trained dogs and children are welcome. Non-smoking tenants please. The cottage has a T.V. licence, digital loft aerial and Freeview box, so visitors may bring their own set if required. The cottage has full oil fired central heating. Although electricity is included, visitors are asked to read the meter at the beginning and end of their stay for the owner’s records. Fuel for the open fire may be bought locally (deliveries can be arranged) to replace any used.
Accessibility
Quince Cottage has quite a steep narrow staircase. As the bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom downstairs we consider that the cottage is not suitable for visitors with mobility problems.

There is a large well-fenced gated garden with a superb view across the fields to Portscatho in the distance. The lawned garden has a slate patio, which faces South and East; a slate bench and table with other garden chairs are provided. There is ample car parking.
Coast/Beach
Quince Cottage is 1/3 mile from the Cornish coastal path that runs east to Nare Head and west to Portscatho. There are many sandy beaches with safe bathing nearby.
Quince Cottage is convenient for the Percuil River with its sheltered sailing and access by boat to St. Mawes, the Carrick Roads and Falmouth. The area has many beautiful gardens - Poppy Cottage, Trelissick (NT), The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan.
The National Maritime Museum Cornwall is situated in Falmouth.

Distances
Quince Cottage lies midway between Tregony and St. Mawes, which are both 6 miles away. Truro and St. Austell are 13 miles away. Falmouth is 16 miles, using the King Harry Car Ferry – or less if you take the passenger ferry from St. Mawes.
Further details
Portscatho, which is 3 miles from Quince Cottage, can be seen across Gerrans Bay from the cottage. There are several shops there including a very good general store, 'Ralph's' with its own bakery (homemade Cornish Pasties recommended!); a butchers shop and cash point facilities. Fresh fish, caught daily is available at Curgurrell Farm, 1 mile form Quince. There are excellent pubs and restaurants in Portscatho and St Mawes and elsewhere in the Peninsula, catering for all tastes and price ranges. Sainsburys and Tesco Direct will deliver to Quince Cottage.
Booking notes
One third of total rental is required as a deposit at the time of booking. The balance is due a minimum of eight weeks before your holiday. If cancelling, the return of your deposit is negotiable, depending on the cost of re-advertising and re-letting. Once the balance has been paid there will be no refund, so adequate insurance is advisable.
Owner profile
About the owner
We have lived all our married life (34 years) in Kent and we brought up our children here. Quince Cottage is very much part of our family life and we visit there as often as we can. In August 2010 our son and daughter in law were married from Quince Cottage and held a reception in the sunshine on Pendower Beach I have been renting Quince Cottage since 1988. Many of our guests feel like personal friends and return year after year, having enjoyed Quince with their children and now with their grandchildren!
Year purchased: 1950's
Why the owner chose a home in this location
Quince Cottage was bought by my mother in 1953. It was lovingly restored by my parents over the years and I inherited Quince Cottage in 1988. It is very much our second 'home' and my husband, I and our two children have always enjoyed spending time here in this beautiful part of Cornwall. Our children (now in their twenties/thirties) are introducing their friends to holidays at Quince Cottage, having first visited here as babies. We added the conservatory to Quince.
Unique benefits of the property
We love the peaceful pace of life in Cornwall and the relaxed atmosphere there. We enjoy many walks, particularly either across Pendower Beach or along the Coastal Path. The sailing is unbeatable! It is fun to visit Falmouth via the St. Mawes passenger ferry. The range and quality of pubs and restaurants in Cornwall is excellent these days and many visitor attractions are open all year round now. There are so many glorious gardens to visit as well as National Trust and English Heritage properties. Flambards theme park at Helston is full of fun and interesting things for all the family.
