Turnstones is conveniently placed about four miles inland on the beautiful, unspoilt, North coast of Cornwall within easy reach of some of Cornwall's best coastal walks, cycle routes, surfing and sailing beaches such as Polzeath, Trebarwith Strand, Rock and Daymer bay. Wadebridge is the nearest large town for shops, restaurants, cinema, cycle hire, pubs etc. Port Isaac is a lovely fishing village (made famous by the TV series 'Dr. Martin') that is a treat on a Summers evening when you can wander through the narrow streets or take a stroll along the harbour where the children can fish with nets in the stream leading down to the sea whilst the adults sup a pint from the local pub! Tintagel, Boscastle and Padstow are all well worth a visit. At St. Kew Highway, that is under two miles away from the cottage, there is a pub, farm shop, Dr's surgery, garage and excellent Cornish pastie shop! The Eden project and the south coast are within an hours drive away.

The parking area is smooth tarmac that leads to the front door (seen in photo). The front door opens straight into the kitchen. Further details
There are public footpaths available 200 metres from the cottage for exercising dogs and taking evening strolls but within a short drive you can get to many beautiful areas on the north Cornwall coast including, Tintagel for the history of King Arthur, Boscastle for witchcraft and magic, Padstow for celebrity chef fish restaurants and our favourite, Port Isaac, a lovely fishing village with links to the Dr Martin TV series. It has a relaxed atmosphere and is ideal for strolling around the maze of back streets, crabbing from the rock pools in the bay and watching the boats come in with their evening catch. The largest surfing or bodyboarding beach within 15 minutes drive of Turnstones is Polzeath, surfing is possible all day and there is plenty of parking and entertainment available. Slightly closer is Trebarwith Strand that is smaller and restricted by the tides but very pretty and great for the whole family. If you fancy trying a bit of sailing Rock is the perfect place, set in the mouth of the Camel estuary and opposite Padstow, Rock offers lessons or trial runs for all ages and plenty of opportunity for the more experienced sailor. Further afield, but still only an hours drive away, is the Eden project and many of the quaint villages on the south coast such as Mevgissey and Fowey. If you are interested in gardens, Cornwall is famous for its tropical climate and has many stunning gardens displaying very different flora to the rest of Britain.

About the owner
We live in Dorset with our three children, three dogs and various chickens. My husband works with the National Park to preserve trees and I work at a special needs school. We enjoy the outdoors, going out for picnics with the family and walking the dogs by the sea; there is some lovely coastal scenery in Dorset but the North Cornwall coastline is something special that we will never get tired of visiting.
Year purchased: 2006
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought Tunstones because we wanted a traditional Cornish cottage that had easy access to many of North Cornwalls stunning beaches and coastline as we like to body board, surf and walk. We also wanted safe sailing for the children, nearby Rock is ideal for this.
Being just 3 minutes drive from the Atlantic Highway (A39) Trelill is one of the closest parts of Cornwall to access from the rest of England and yet it is nicely tucked away in a very peaceful part of the countryside. It is only a few minutes drive from some, typically Cornish, rugged, hidden away beaches or alternatively not far from the buzzing activity in Padstow or quiet meandering through the backstreets of Port Isaac.
Even St. Ives is only just over an hours drive away and well worth a day trip!
Unique benefits of the property
Turnstones has easy parking and a good sized porch for discarding wellies and wet shoes, apparently it used to be the gamekeepers cottage so the great iron hooks could have been used for hanging guns or game!
The garden is lovely to relax in through the Summer months and there are several washing lines for hanging swimming costumes and wetsuits.
As a family we enjoy cooking and eating together and have tried to equipt the kitchen with a good range of utensils and a few recipe books.
The living room has 2 sofas, chairs and windowseats with plenty of room for cosy evenings in; books videos and board games have been provided in the large dresser for your enjoyment.
If you bring your dog there are public footpaths just down the lane from the cottage that make exercise easy.
