Outside
Cheristow Cottages have grounds of 14.5 acres with views towards the village of Stoke and the sea. There is a play area with swings, slide, seating, sand pit and a variety of bats and balls. All cottages have their own garden/patio with barbecue and table and chairs. The sauna and spa are shared by all cottages but private whilst being used by individual cottages. We have a quiet setting which helps you to relax and get away from the bustling life of town.

Coast/Beach
20 minutes walk to SW coastal path and nearest beach, Berry, or 5 minutes drive. Hartland Quay is either a short drive or a fantastic walk along the coastal path. Takes approximately 60 minutes walking or 7 minutes by car. Hartland Village is a 20 minute walk through ancient Cheristow woods where bluebells and snowdrops are in abundance in the spring and rhododendrons later. The quaint fishing village of Clovelly is just 5 miles. Sandy beaches going towards Bude 15 miles or Bideford 15 miles

Golf
We have quite a few golf courses within easy reach of our cottages: Hartland Forest is our closest course just 15 minutes drive away. The Old Links course at the Royal North Devon Golf Club (Westwood Ho!) is the oldest golf course in England and is just 15-20 minutes drive away for golfers who really want to treat themselves during their stay! Ivyleaf's nine hole course and driving range is 15-20 minutes drive away on the way to Bude which is around 25 minutes drive away and has it's own 18 hole links course. Holsworthy Golf Club is approximately 25 minutes drive and has a scenic 18 hole parkland course with views of Dartmoor from the 10th tee! Saunton Sands Golf Club is about an hour away but is well worth the drive. They have two 18 hole championship courses which can both be played in a day if you're feeling energetic! We are happy to assist in arranging tee times at any (or all!) of these courses.

Use of a car is not necessary although it helps!

Guest comments
Louise & Alastair - Another lovely week. Thank you.

'We have found your cottages perfect for our group booking. Very well thought out and presented. Good location. The Sauna and Spa - great idea.

Brie Family - It was a lovely cottaged, feeding the animals was an enjoyable experience. The beaches were very nice and good for surfing. We made some friends and enjoyed playing in the play area with them (Tom 13). Great base for a family holiday. Enjoyed the walk to Hartland down through Cheristow woods. We would all like to come back which says it all.

Mr. & Mrs. Tuckwell - was a real treat and smashing view towards the sea across the field, enjoyed seeing the animals.

Mr. & Mrs. Bignall - We have had a very enjoyable holiday in this lovely cottage (Bonds'). Thank you!

Mr. & Mrs. Watson & family - Our first catering cottage... I needn't have worried! Spotless - which was a big relief to me!

Owner profile

About the owner
We are the Grimshaw family - Gus, Sara, Tom and Ally - and we live here in Cheristow along with our ducks, geese, chickens, ponies and Darcy the dog. We moved here in August 2011 after a long search for the perfect cottage holiday location. The sea view from this fantastic place won our hearts straight away and that, along with the beautiful rolling countryside and breathtaking local beaches will hopefully keep us here for many years to come.

Year purchased: 2011

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Location, location, location as they say! The silence here is deafening, the night skies are so clear they seem unreal and there is a wonderful feeling of being away from it all despite the fact that the local amenities are very good. The proximity to a number of beautiful beaches and coastal paths is a big plus for us, as well as our guests.

Unique benefits of the property
We are situated slap bang between Bude and Bideford which are both thriving towns and have everything that one could need. This makes Cheristow and ideal basefrom which to explore all that both North Devon and North Cornwall have to offer.
