Valley Springs self-catering holiday cottages are restored traditional stone buildings dating back to the 18th century. Light airy interiors with excellent views over a duck pond, cool in summer and warmly heated in winter. In a beautiful, secluded valley, between Dartmouth and Salcombe, our comfortable self-catering cottages await you just inland from Slapton Sands, and its well-known nature reserve. Set 100 yards off a narrow, high-hedged Devon lane, surrounded by the soft, undulating countryside and red soiled farmland of the South Hams, Devon. With a combination of accommodation to suit the family or a couple taking a main holiday or a short break. An ideal location to relax and enjoy South Devon's beaches, unspoilt villages, breathtaking countryside and coastal walks amongst many other attractions and activities. This small cluster of cottages spaced out around a central pond have their own character, charmingly decorated to create relaxing living spaces.

Full week holidays are Friday to Friday. Short weekend breaks Friday to Monday (only available during off peak periods). Short midweek breaks Monday to Friday (only available during off peak periods). Arrival time 16:00hrs. Departure time 10:00hrs.
Accessibility
Fingerling Barn is accessed from a level terrace from car parking area with a low step into the entrance hall, living, dinning, wc and kitchen are all on ground floor, all bedrooms and bathrooms are on first floor and serviced by two staircases as you ascend, first stairs has hand rail on right, second stairs has no hand rail. Little Fingerling has stone steps approaching entrance, step into kitchen, all accommodation on ground level.
Outside
The cottages have a private fenced terrace with table, chairs and barbeque overlooking pretty ornamental pond ideal for alfresco dinning. There is a large shared garden with pond (unfenced Mum’s and Dad’s beware you must watch your children at all times) and off road car parking.
Coast/Beach
Whatever your favourite beach from the great sweep of flat golden sand at Bigbury or Thurlestone, or a sheltered cove like Hallsands or spectacular Slapton Sands, backed by the freshwater lagoon. Family friendly South/North Sands or across the Salcombe Estuary Mill Bay and East Portlemouth or wooded suntrap of Blackpool Sands and its extensive facilities. Wherever you choose, as well as the most beautiful, you'll also be among the safest, cleanest and best-managed beaches you'll find anywhere.
Golf
Thurlestone Golf Club, Bigbury Golf Club, Dartmouth Golf and Country Club and Thurlestone Hotel all within approx 10 miles.
Travel
The nearest airports are Exeter International (one hour by car), or Plymouth (also about one hour by car). The nearest main railway station (direct from London and the midlands) is Totnes (14 miles), from which public transport is possible. However we do advise a car is the only practical type of transport when visiting Valley Springs due to it’s rural location.

Our stay at Fingerling Barn was wonderful. The setting in which the Barn sits is breathtaking and the accommodation is to a very high standard and everything that you required in the kitchen was there, even down to a lemon squeezer. It was great being able to sit down as a family and enjoy our meals at the huge table in the dining room, there was so much space for all of us. We were greeted by the owners on our arrival who were down doing some gardening. They were very helpful and ensured that we were ok before they left. We would recommend this holiday to everyone and wished that we had booked 2 weeks instead of 1.

Our family is made up of Joan my wife, Ashley our son, Sammy our daughter and of course myself, we live in a beautifully rural part of Surrey and enjoy living in the countryside. My wife and I work full time, we run a small business from home and our family part owns a manufacturing business in South Wales which was established in 1979.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Joan and I first visited the South Hams back in 1988 and immediately fell in love with anything the area has to offer and since then we have visited at least once a year and for many of those years dreamed of buying our own cottage. Well that’s a reality now and believe like minded people who love the countryside, good clean unspoilt beaches, piece and quiet will enjoy the rural setting of Valley Springs.
Unique benefits of the property
Valley Springs is conveniently located whilst in a rural setting and hidden from the hustle and bustle of daily life, Kingsbridge with it’s shops, restaurants and many other facilities is a short drive away, as is the beautiful South Devon beaches and countryside is on the doorstep waiting to be explored. Fingerling Barn offers usually spacious living, it really doesn't feel like a holiday let, we have stayed at many over the years which squeeze your family into the smallest of space, Fingerling Barn is home from home and a place to relax in with good size windows to enjoy the views over the pond.
