Further details
Cook's service - Julia Waghorn is a professional cook, who has moved down to Lee from London and has a guest house in the village. As well as having had a successful career mainly in the corporate sector, she has had her own bakery. She is available to prepare evening meals, puddings, cakes and other delicious eatables for people staying at the house. She uses organic ingredients as much as possible, including local beef and lamb from an accredited farm in the valley. There is a complimentary supper prepared for the first evening, which can be discussed with Julia in advance. Other local foodstuffs can be ordered if required. This service is given as a welcome to our visitors after what is usually a long car journey. There is a selection from her menu given below There is also a selection of wine and a bottle of champagne available to be used, as well as basic provisions in the fridge. Local activities: Woolacombe Bay is perfect for those who want to play on a beach. Miles of golden sand and designated one of the cleanest beaches in the EU, it has good facilities for children and surfers. The high cliffs and headlands along this coast are popular with rock climbers. Exmoor National Park with its wild open spaces, provides great walking, riding or cycling. There are also all the hidden villages with wonderful pubs to drink and eat in, as you explore the park or bird/wildlife watch. For golfers, there are the famous links courses, Royal North Devon and Saunton Sands, as well as the less demanding local courses and ranges. There is sea fishing from Ilfracombe and some of the finest fly fishing rivers in the country around Barnstaple. The mild climate is great for gardens grand and small from RHS Rosemoor to specialist nurseries. There is information at the house on all these activities. Other activities: trout fishing and sea fishing, rock climbing, sea kayaking, wildlife and bird watching.
