Upper Saltings is part of a 19th Century granite building right on famous Porthmeor Beach. Over the years it has been used for drying nets, fish, sails and as artists' studios. We have now converted the space to make an extraordinary holiday retreat. The living room is huge (40 x 25 feet) with a 9 foot wide window seat above the sand and sea. You may spend most time there mesmerized by the sky and the light which drew so many 20th Century artists to this place: Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth, Bernard Leach, Terry Frost, Patrick Heron. W. Barnes-Graham, all of whose work may be seen in the Tate St Ives Museum further along the beach. We've used slate, maple and stainless steel to make a 21st century kitchen with every appliance. What you may remember most is the view from the kitchen sink: surfers riding the waves and spray shooting over the rocks. Under 2 big skylights (excellent for watching gulls, clouds and stars) you'll find a long dining table to enjoy leisurely meals.

Notes on prices
Nov thru Mar, excluding holiday weeks, £650 for 2 guests. Nov thru Mar, weekends (3nts), £450 for 2 guests. Deposit of £100 covers damage, breakages, gas, electricity, extra final cleaning and laundry charges (or you may bring your own). Local calls and wireless internet included in the rent.
Changeover day
Bookings normally run from Saturday to Saturday. Two week bookings preferred in the Summer. Long weekends will be considered as available.

Enviable location right on Porthmeor Beach makes Upper Saltings ideal for bucket-and spade holidays, for keen surfers, or for those like us who enjoy walks along the beach as well as time to sit and contemplate the amazing sea views from our stunning window seat.
Booking notes
We ask for initial payment of 50% of rent on initial booking. Final 50% 4 weeks before departure. We also ask for a £100 deposit refundable less amounts used for gas, electricity, extra final cleaning and laundry, if used. Local telephone calls and Broadband access included in the rent - but please remember to bring your own laptop.
