Potter Cottage is a self-contained apartment and is part of the main house at Beechmount whilst Coach House Cottage is a separate building within the grounds. The hamlet of Near Sawrey is famous as the home of Beatrix Potter. Hill Top, the Tower Bank Arms public house and other aspects of the village are featured in many of Beatrix Potters works. For walkers there are many low level walks that lead to some of the less populated areas of the fells with most leading to the larger village of Hawkshead that boasts at least four good pubs that provide food.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
Having spent many years travelling to the Lake District the next natural step was to come and live here. We wanted a village location (must have a pub), that was away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist routes but within distance for our guest. Beatrix Potter got it right. Sawrey is a beautiful lakeland village and the Dan Gibson designed arts and craft house set in the acre of Thomas Morrson landscaped gardens provides wonderful views of the surrounding forest and fells. The house exudes character with its open fires, large rooms, garden areas and lawns. Many guest enjoy the delights of the garden after long days walking on the fells. There is a tranquility that persuaded Miss Potter to lease the house for a year in 1915. Simply a wonderful place to live.

Unique benefits of the property
Benifits. The gardens, spacious rooms, summerhouse, views, open fires, access to a really good lakeland pub with excellent local real ales. Easy access to Bowness, Ambleside, Hawkshead, Grasmere, Cartmel and the Furness Peninsular. Ease of access to all manner of outdoor pursuits from sailing, horse riding, walking etc. The surrounding area has a large and varied choice of well established and internationally recognised places to eat. Tourist who want to relax without the rigour of the more strenuous lifestyle can easily limit activities to shorter walks and drive to such places as Rydal Mount, Dove Cottage, Hill Top etc. Including the wonderful Cavendish home and grounds at Holker Hall. Quite simply there is something for all ages with stunning landscape to enjoy throughout.
