Owner profile
About the owner
I love writing and work in the media and fell for St Ives when I visited on family holidays as a child. I chose this property because it is light, spacious (a lot of St Ives properties are small because they were fishermen's cottages, this was once a sail loft so is nice and airy) and close to three great beaches. It is a lovely, relaxing place, great for family breaks or anyone who wants to get away from it all. There are lots of books, paintings, DVDs and CDs to enjoy.
It is also a great location, handy for a small local shop called Norway Stores. We're in the Downalong area which has so much character, close to Porthmeor beach which is wonderful for walks, picnics and surfing!
Why the owner chose a home in this location
It is a wonderful place with lots of character. There are great galleries, restaurants and beaches close by. It's such a central location in one of the prettiest parts of St Ives. There is an exposed stone wall on two sides of the large sitting room which give it lots of character and I enjoy sitting on the window seat - you can see the Sloop (a lovely whitewashed old pub) from the window seat, and it looks down to the harbour beach. It is a lovely location, tucked away and private.
Unique benefits of the property
It is really handy for Porthmeor, Porthgwidden and the Harbour beaches. Norway Stores is just two minutes walk away and there are lovely restaurants - Porthminster, Porthgwidden Cafe and the Loft are a very short walk away. Lots to do on your doorstep.
